Mar 3, 2014 9:48 PM in response to BreonNagyby Qida,Currently its still running good no issues. Thou was hoping to get the i-sight camera working.
However i do have hicupps and setback when i first tried it.
1. I couldn't get any response from the ATD and was about to give up, until i have intel thunderbolt driver installed in windows 8.1 (the drivers came with the MB . just install everything in that asus cdrom) & upgrade to the latest BIOS (Its so easy to update bios on the asus boards). So a temporary dvi / vga display is required. (I use my HDTV to set it up)
2. You can only connect 1 and only 1 ATD. And windows fast boot option in the bios have to be turned off.
3. Lucid MVP is highly dependent on the Windows version & 64bit or 32bit. (Installing the wrong version will cause windows to crash.. have to reinstall everything again) - the link they give me when i purchase is for windows 7.. so it messed up my system.. had to do it again. Check their site for the correct downloads.
4. I do run into memory issues before(Some games told me not enough memory, tomb raider / rome total war). I assume its graphics memory, as i have 8gb ram. - Turning off multi-screen support in the MB bios kinda resolve this issue. I have no idea if the graphics memory is shared with onboard memory and the graphics card memory is ignored.
5. Pick a graphics card brand, and stick with it. I upgrade from ATI HD5770 to R290, because it will not affect any drivers, its simple plug and play. And the graphics is scaling at 2560 x 1440.. so R290 is better price/performance wise compared to gtx780
All in all if everything is done right, You can get yourself a logitech T630 mouse + k810 /811 keyboard.. and you have a system quite close to the imac running win 8 and you can share it with your mac.

Mar 11, 2014 1:29 PM in response to Qidaby tom1502,This is exactly what I am hoping to do. I am running a 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display, but I would like to be able to use it with a bigger screen. I would also like to use one screen for my PC and MacBook. My PC is primarily for gaming - epsecially now that I have the Mac - so I would be interested to know how well you are able to run some games with this set up and whether or not you are having any/many crashes or issues with it?

Mar 12, 2014 1:45 PM in response to Qidaby Boiler98,Qida,
Did you purchase Lucid MVP on your own, or did it come with the motherboard?
I don't see Lucid MVP listed as a feature on the motherboard you list and when I go to purchase Lucid MVP from the Lucid site, the purchase page is less then encouraging. I've also heard that Lucid MVP has to be licensed by the motherboard company, so I'm getting mixed info.

Yes, Lucid MVP does not come with the motherboard nor is it listed in their websites.
I took the risk on the entire setup, luckily it worked.
@tom1502
So far no serious crashes, only issues with running some games in windowed mode (graphics shearing, but i guess its nothing to do with the setup.. and more to do with Lucid MVP software)
The startup will fail every other time, (often with blank screen / or "Overclocking failed message").. but after reset will launch windows again. Funny i never overclocked or change any major settings in the bios.

Mar 13, 2014 8:51 AM in response to Qidaby Boiler98,Qida, thank you for the information!
May I ask which version of Lucid MVP you purchased? I'm leaning towards the Standard right now, but it is not much more just to get the Pro version.

Just for the HyperFormance feature. Found that to work better in some games.

Jan 23, 2015 5:58 AM in response to Qidaby mlb5,Qida, are you still using this setup? I've got a late 2013 27" iMac and was hoping to use a gaming PC with the display in Target Display Mode. It looks like since this post there's a newer option in the ASUS ThunderboltEX II which would require no GPU virtualization - is that correct as far as you know?
Also I've been googling around and it looks like there may be a difference in support between the Apple Thunderbolt Display and an iMac in Target Display Mode. Some people are claiming that an iMac in TDM will only work with Apple desktops/laptops, while others are claiming that it works. I wish I knew which was true...

About a year ago I built a computer which based on x99-motherboard + asus thunderbolt ex 2 card. As the image source has been selected GTX970. Everything worked perfectly under windows 10 control.
