Q: OSX Yosemite Wifi issues

Hi there,

I upgraded my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2014 revision) to OS X Yosemite last night and am now having issues when using my home WiFi connection. Whilst it connects to either the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network, it is basically unusable. Web pages take minutes to load (if they even load at all), dropbox doesn't sync because it can't get a connection and even trying to get to the router config page is extremely slow and hit/miss.

Tethering to my iPhone seems to work ok, as does using my home network via wired ethernet.

Are any others having problems with Yosemite? Wifi was working fine on Mavericks.

I just went back to Mavericks.  Rock solid!  Also looks like the latest iOS8 does not fix iPhone WiFi issues either.

Since upgrading to Yosemite last year I haven't been able to use wifi. As soon as I switch on wifi on my iMac and connect to my network, the router reboots. As the router reboots, all other equipment on the network immediately looses internet connection.

I just upgraded to 10.10.2 and it didn't solve the problem. The Sagemcom router reboots within a few minutes.

iMac 2012, 3,4 GHz Core 7, 16 GB memory, Nvidia Graphics and a crappy OS.

    Come on, Apple....

I remember reading it once on this thread but I can't find it, how do you downgrade to Mavericks? Something about holding some keys when restarting?

    An open letter to Mavericks:

Dear Mavericks. I'm so sorry I left you. Please will you take me back? I promise never to go on an (up)date with another operating system again. How I miss those little things you used to do for me that I took for granted, like open web pages.

Since installing 10.10.2, on MacBook Pro (early 2013) 2.4 & 5.0 still grind to a halt (wifi) inside a few mins in exact spot where Mavericks was fine. In same exact spot iPad 1 and iPhone 5 still connect fine. The MacBook has wifi bars, and BT home hub 4 indicates connected, but no real connectivity after a few minutes. No other interfering equipment around, at least in my flat. I won't post endlessly as this is a forum for helping and I don't have expertise (I have left Apple my first feedback).

    > it has definitely helped some of us.

Agreed -- until things break again. I, too, had many weeks of flawless WiFi after implementing the fix on page 121, but a couple of days ago the issue briefly reappeared. Sigh. I guess I'm fairly fortunate, though, since the problem is infrequent enough to only be an occasional nuisance. Makes it harder to diagnose, however.

Updated to 10.10.2 yesterday from the last beta seed, so we'll wait and see what that brings.

Hey guys, if I try to revert back to Mavericks using the method where you download Mavericks from purchased history, making a Mac OS X Mavericks boot drive on a USB, etc. etc. (http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/revert-back-mavericks-from-yosemit e-3581872/), will that result in 10.9.0 or the most up-to-date version of Mavericks?

Seems Apple at least is acknowledging the issue...

So far, it has solved it for me. FINGERS CROSSED!

I agree, but Apple acknowledging it is at least progress... I've yet to stream a movie, so we'll see! That's when it was worst.

I would say thst is a statement that the problem has been resolved and fixed, not an acknowledgement.

I have no issues when connected to an Airport Time Capsule, but ....

...as stated earlier, I have serious problems with D-Link, even after upgrading to 10.10.2.

As a matter of fact it is even worse that before upgrading. Before upgrading, I coul initiate a ping to a server on the LAN and the Wifi would stay up at least for 5-10 minutes. Now, it works for 10 seconds or so and then - no feedback from the network.

Since wifi is only stable with between Apple equipment, is there a conspiracy?

Everybody, please state your model of routers/access-points. Maybe that will help Apple resolving the issue.

I went back to Mavericks awhile ago, works flawlessly..

    Absolutely stunned Apple is, either:

    a) refusing to,fix this (can't be bothered ? want people to buy new HW ?)

    b) simply don't have expertise to make WiFI work.

Am also wondering if same person responsible for fixing this, is same person responsible for TESTING it

did you test this apple ?????
