Jan 28, 2015 2:30 PM in response to ar999222333by LarryHN,You do not need the iPhoto library upgrader for a library created by iPhoto 9.5.1 - only for libraries form iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) and older
The iPhoto Library Upgrader is a tool that prepares libraries from iPhoto '08 (v7.x) or earlier so that you can upgrade them with the current version of iPhoto. If your library is from iPhoto '09 (v8.x) or later, you don't need to use this tool.

Jan 28, 2015 2:40 PM in response to LarryHNby ar999222333,I know, that's what's confusing me.. I shouldnt need it but it's prompting me to do so after I tried to open an old library (that would definitely need upgrader). When i tried to open the old one, via iPhoto 9.5.1 on my dock, it didnt prompt me to download upgrader but gave me another error message (which I can't recall unfortunately).
Any other suggestion would be much appreciated! I've tried restarting and did all my software upgrades...

Jan 28, 2015 3:02 PM in response to ar999222333by ar999222333,And things just got worse... I'm now not able to drag anything onto the desktop, I get the error message "You can’t open the application “Desktop” because it may be damaged or incomplete." I can move things that are on the desktop into other folders and if i take a screen grab, it shows up on the desktop. But can't place anything onto the desktop.

Jan 28, 2015 3:45 PM in response to ar999222333by LarryHN,Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto by double clicking on the iPhoto 9.5.1 library - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
