Q: OSX Yosemite Wifi issues

Hi there,

I upgraded my Macbook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2014 revision) to OS X Yosemite last night and am now having issues when using my home WiFi connection. Whilst it connects to either the 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz network, it is basically unusable. Web pages take minutes to load (if they even load at all), dropbox doesn't sync because it can't get a connection and even trying to get to the router config page is extremely slow and hit/miss.

Tethering to my iPhone seems to work ok, as does using my home network via wired ethernet.

Are any others having problems with Yosemite? Wifi was working fine on Mavericks.

Tom

upgraded both household macs to 10.10,2

    both are recent retina models

now neither can load a single webpage and wife is angry

only internet is iPad mini now

i do think there may be merit in getting out a typewriter

at least then I won't have to type on the iPads keyboard and can post the letter

now where did I put my carrier pigeon?

    two almost brand new macs

both running the latest apple o.s with no hacks

apples latest updates installed after their extensive testing

neither can even load google once

    what does this day?

boy doing this on an ipad mini is tricky

I don't know about the WiFi drop outs but the Bluetooth interference is very much still an issue. It even varies when there is a BT device connected and when there is none. I just captured these stats after installing 10.10.2. I think it should be pretty obvious to any observer that there's something going on with WiFi and Bluetooth:

I Just realized why my wifi is working again.  Re-installing Yosemite put me back on version 10.10.1, which never was a problem for me with Wifi.  I'm going to upgrade to 10.10.2 and see if the problem of not being able to connect to Wifi re-occurs.  Crossing my fingers ... which seems like dealing with MS Windows again.

Yes, upgrading to 10.10.2 prevents me from connecting to my Wifi router. Here is a screen shot.  i guess I have to go back to unsecure 10.10.1....

Same as you. It seems to go well but after a while, Wi-Fi connexion drops. It happened 3 times in a row a few minutes ago on my home machine and a (very) few times today on my work machine. Both are mid-2011 iMac.

I don't know what has been fixed with 10.10.2 but I see absolutely zero improvement.

The Wi-Fi engineering team asked me some diagnostic logs during 10.10.1 beta. I sent them 3 or 4, got no reply of any sort (like, you know, "hey thanks"). I can't connect to Ethernet on one of the 2 Macs, and going back to Maverick is not an option either. It's really a pain in the ***.

Stay on seed if it works for you, 10.10.2 beta 6 or whatever, Paul. They mended some, they may have broken some more. Apprentice magi. Or test the retail version via a quarantined installation on an external disk. Good luck!

Bit insulting isn't it. We, Apple customers, have made them the most wealthy company in human history, but, they do something like this.

    6 months of disabled computers.

I Heard today that 73% of Apples profits come from iPhones.

    Yosemit was free....

obviously they aren't too concerned about supporting something that makes them virtually no money.

Insulting it is. Apple would wake up if us Registered Users were to start exchanging Mavericks among ourselves "Free" in order to have stable running Macs!!! We would be in Court and on World News in a heartbeat....and still no stable Yosemite - (Sinking Rock).

So far so good after a day, although from experience it's much too early to call it fixed and from the e-mails that I'm seeing, it might well come back.

In order to test this as rigorously as possible, I decided to remove Wifried before installing the 10.10.2. Right away, I noticed my speeds had plummeted to... 90mbps. I understand it's still high all things considered, but I was getting at least 135mps easy before if not more. My speeds are also all over the place. I suspect this is all due to awdl being enabled again, so will probably disable it in a few days to see if the behavior improves.

Apple doesn't answer here, but I can confirm that they do read.

I got contacted a few hours ago regarding my wireless problem since they wanted more information from me.
