After checking the hardware side of the issue, I finally found out that the anything that allows you to capture audio or video from your screen, like SnapzPro, WireTap or Audio Hijack generates the HDCP error.
Once I removed the above (trashed and restarted), I was able to play the content again.

Jan 28, 2015 5:27 PM in response to johnthy32by Roger Crowley,This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
I get this message with iTunes Movies and Netflix. However, if I use Chrome to launch Netflix all works fine. So the display is not the problem but some software bug. I have the three apps mentioned by johnthy 32. I'll uninstall and see if that works.

Good luck

What a pain!
I can watch iTune movies on my Apple TV or on my MacBook Pro if it is hooked up to my 27" Cinema Display. But not on my MacBook Pro.
OH, the trailers for all iTune movies play just fine.

Jan 28, 2015 10:26 PM in response to Roger Crowleyby manoskap,Really I dont know what apple is trying to do. I decided to stop downloading illegal movies and now I an honoured by the best way: being unable to watch my paid movies!
I have a MBPro that i use as my main Mac And a secondary MBAir at my office. On my Pro i install everything... Years now. So I decided to do a clean installl since trying to uninstall did nothing.. Now It is ok but I am afraid to install everything i had before!
On my Air at the other side, appart from the apps that are from the app store and have to do with my job, I only had team Viewer installed. And yes, i got there also the HDCP problem! So probably is it the team viewer that does this?
I am wondering, since it seems such a common problem, why apple doesnt fix it by giving us a tool that searches and finds the app that does it, or even by asking us to terminate it in order to play the movie!

Jan 31, 2015 6:43 AM in response to manoskapby Roger Crowley,I found a solution for the HDCP error message I've been getting when using Safari to watch Netflix movies or iTune movies. I had to uninstall 3rd party software that messes with the Apple display. Actually I didn't find the solution but an Apple Tech Support guy did. The person I talked to knew exactly what to do - immediately. Quick easy solution!
I had hooked up an older 20" Apple display using a USB device made by Diamond. Diamond has a folder called "Display Link" that is installed in the application folder. I uninstalled that software. I also uninstalled Wiretap, Snapz Pro, and Audio Hyjack. All seem to interfere with the Apple displays.
I was told I could reinstall the software except for Diamond stuff. I'll contact Diamond about a possible upgrade to their software so it doesn't interfere with HDCP in Apple displays.
