Q: kernel panic

My Macbook Pro from 2010, running Mountain Lion, makes sudden restarts several times a day. Sometimes even several times per hour, making it impossible to do continous work. It started about a month ago. I have read, that behavior is called kernel panic. But what can I do about it? Did read a couple of other examples on this forum, but the advices I found were all about other versions of HW or OS, or the troubles were due to SW, I do not run.
