Q: Since iOS 8.1.2 My Yahoo mail has stopped working, any help please, but don't get too technical

My old ipad2 yahoo mail has stopped working the last update was Monday (as the bottom of inbox says anyway). This has happened since I updated to iOS 8.1.2. Can anyone help me please, not too technical as I'm not a computer programmer lol. Or does anyone know if Apple are doing anything about this problem, as I see it's happening to other device. Many thanks for reading this

This afternoon, after no working Yahoo email on iPad 2, IOS 8.1.2, it suddenly appeared! I have working Inbox, and my personal folders that had been emptied out are now back. The last mail update, before this "miracle" was 12/27/2014.

I hope others have their spontaneous fix soon. Thanks for your help and participation.

I have found a way to fix this problem, i fixed mine just. All i did was delete my yahoo or any other email that's connected to my mail also you have to singout on icloud. After singing out on icloud you'll get a notification or a warning sign from you phone you have to choose "Delete from my phone" after that try connecting everything back like your Yahoo, Icloud etc.. I hope this work to eveyone cause it works on my iPhone 6 after exploring it cause i had this problem  for about 2 months and its getting annoying.

Step 1: Delete anything that's connected to your mail: yahoo, Icloud etc..

    FullSizeRender.jpg

Step 2:go to Icloud you can find it on "Settings"  you have to signout and then click "Delete from my iphone"

Step 3: Put everything back and then go to "Notification" and find mail, click to yahoo and turn everything on from "Show in notication center, Badge app icon, Show on lock screen" then underneath you have to pick either "Banner or Alerts"

I had the same problem and tried all the solutions posted & nothing worked. I finally got the yahoo app & didn't like using it at all.  . Today I added a new email account in Settings but instead of clicking on "Yahoo" to add it, I added it under "other".  I used my complete email address under name rather than using my name. This worked immediately - didn't even need to turn ipad off & back on. Perhaps a fluke but I can now access all 3 of my email accounts in the same place. I have not deleted the account yet named "yahoo" which still shows all my folders but when you try to open them, it says "no mail" and "no message selected" where the body of the email should be.  The new email account was automatically named "SBC Global"..Good luck to everyone.

excellent work. sometimes it takes a lucky strike to get to the fix. I understand your reluctance to act further (old Yahoo that you describe), but in the interset of science?? How about trying to add the same account again in the normal Yahoo picking way? The reason I say this is that this fix could point the developers to the source of the problem - it is REALLY had to fix something that one cannot reproduce. Also could you post your device and iOS version? again, good job. - ÇÇÇ

I Have a mini ipad & IOS 8.1.3.  my problem started when I updated IOS. When i "pushed" trying to refresh & load emails, nothing happened & it showed the time of the IOS update rather than "just now" .  funny thing - I also updated my iPhone & it worked fine. I have 3 email accounts; one G mail & 2 yahoo but only had the problem with my default yahoo account.   In settings, under accounts, my old yahoo account lists mail. Calendar, contacts reminders & notes. My new SBC account only lists mail & notes. If I delete the old yahoo, is there any chance I'll lose my calendar, etc,?  will try deleting it "in the interest of science" if there's no chance of that.

    • Update FROM 8.1.2 ?
When i "pushed" trying to refresh & load emails, nothing happened & it showed the time of the IOS update rather than "just now" .
    • The PUSH issue is being systematically fixed on everyone's Yahoo accounts BY Yahoo. Your success with the OTHER workaround ("SBC Global") is unrelated to the issue. One participant (I think it is here in this thread - 4 pages is not worth the search) reports that their Two Yahoo accounts MAGICALLY started working again at different times in the same day = which proves the systematic efforts at Yahoo
funny thing - I also updated my iPhone & it worked fine.
    • The delicate interplay between iOS, App & hardware is beyond most all's expertise - go figger

I have 3 email accounts; one G mail & 2 yahoo but only had the problem with my default yahoo account.
    • GMail is moot, this only affects YahooMail accounts. 'Tis strange indeed that there seems to be a distinction somehow in the attributes of different Yahoo accounts (?) I don't think "Default" has anything to do with this at all.
In settings, under accounts, my old yahoo account lists mail. Calendar, contacts reminders & notes.

My new SBC account only lists mail & notes.
    • This appears to be a feature of the major players taking advantage of iOS's abilities - YahooMail has added code 'Plugged-In' to the MailApp that let's MailApp display a YahooLike experience.
    • SBC account creation was achieved in a 'vanilla' fashion
If I delete the old yahoo, is there any chance I'll lose my calendar, etc,?
    • No, as all that stuff is really ON the Yahoo servers - goto Yahoo WebMail in a browser to prove it to yourself
will try deleting it "in the interest of science" if there's no chance of that.
    • I hope you haven't followed through with this yet, as I explained earlier, it may MAGICALLY fix itself in the dead of night

    Phew! that's better!

I said " it may MAGICALLY fix itself in the dead of night "

if you haven't acted on deleting the problem Yahoo account, I really mean wait a while. Yahoo is doing things behind the curtain - it seems to every account, as they must have no way of knowing the extent of the issue. There is at least one report that seems to indicate that their efforts have caused an account to act up where it had not been earlier - i.e., no actions by the user at all that could have preceded it.

patience, as Yahoo is harder to communicate with than Apple is.

    Hello

I had the same problem. Strange thing is that it worked after the update on the Iphone 5 while the IpadAir was not updated yet and had version 8.00 something there was the error message. So first try this this steps.

    1. look that all your devices have the same version.

    2. delete the old yahoo account

    3. add new account but not use yahoo default settings. Chosse other accounts.

    4. search in yahoo.com for yahoo imap settings:

    http://email.about.com/od/yahoomailtips/qt/Access_Your_Yahoo_Mail_Account_with_Y our_Email_Program.htm

setup the account with imap. this worked then fine for me in 8.1.3

My wife's iPhone stopped reaching yahoo email about 3 days ago.  I removed the email account from the phone.  When I reloaded, I did not use the Yahoo icon but select other to add an account.  I found this from the following video: https://youtu.be/yWVWEwm5wTc  My wife's phone is receiving yahoo email.

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall that method at least mentioned in the January thread(s). I don't recall it being a fix across the board, though.

My specific problem is that I cannot reproduce the error as it only affects certain devices under certain circumstances - maybe Apple techies have the data, but we don't have an Apple Support doc to which to refer.
