Q: Not getting arrive/leave notifications on Find my Friends

My daughter and I both have iPhone 6's.  She just received hers as a gift.  We set up family sharing & I installed Find My Friends app on both of our phones.  However, when I open it and try to set the notifications of her leaving/arriving a certain location (because she's notorious for forgetting to tell me she arrived off public transportation to school safely), I do not get the notifications.  I can see where she is - but it doesn't notify me.

My notification settings are set to allow from Find My Friends.  Her  settings are set to share her location with me.

Anyone have a fix?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3

    Hi amie206,

From your post it sounds as though you are experiencing issues with Notifications and Find My Friends. I have linked to an article that may help you:

    Find my Friends: Notification issues

If you can’t set a notification

You or your friend might be using a device that doesn’t support location notifications.

You can set a notification on a device with iOS 5 or later, however, the person you’re creating the notification for needs to have iPhone 4 or later, iPad 3rd generation or later, or iPod touch 5th generation with iOS 6 or later.

You can’t set a notificaiton for anyone who is using iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, or iPod touch 4th generation.

    If you’re not receiving notifications

Your friend might be in a location with poor cellular coverage. Also, make sure your friend:

Hasn’t stopped sharing his or her location.

Has Find My Friends turned on in Location Services (Settings > Privacy > Location Services).

    If friends aren’t receiving notifications

You might be in a location with poor cellular coverage. Also, make sure you:

Haven’t stopped sharing your location (in the Me pane).

Have Find My Friends turned on in Location Services (Settings > Privacy > Location Services). If Find My Friends is dimmed, check Settings > Restrictions to see if the restrictions need to be changed. If not, contact the person who controls the device’s restrictions

If friends aren’t seeing the name they expect in notifications from you

When you send notifications, the name that your friends see is the one that’s associated with your Apple ID. You can check or change your name on the My Apple ID website.

    1. Go to the My Apple ID website.

    2. Tap Manage your Apple ID, then sign in with the Apple ID you use with Find My Friends.

    3. Check or change your name in the Name, ID and Email Addresses section.

For more information about notification issues, see the Apple Support article Troubleshooting Find My Friends.

Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

    Take care,
