Q: itunes 11.4 crashes when syncing apps to ipad / iphone

hey everyone, maybe the knowledge of the many may help, as I am rather at a loss right now!

after installing itunes 11.4, my trouble started! running 64 bit version on windows 8.1 - and latest iOS on both devices

all windows updates installed, all drivers for whatever is running on this machien are also up to date

connecting either ipad or iphone to computer, when itunes starts to sync, it gets to the point of "syncing apps to iPAD", it tries to add the first app - and crashes for good!

and yep, I went thru all the suggested thingies recommended on here:

iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717

windows pops up "itunes has stopped working" ... so I headed over to the Windows Event viewer, and for the moment, itunes crashes, I find these two entries in the log file - tried a search on here, google as well, to no avail:

This problem is caused by apps in the iTunes library that aren't compatible with ios 8 those apps must be deleted from your iTunes app library before performing a sync. You can determine which app it is from the status bar on top of the window during the sync process at the time of the crash. If you want back up the app before you delete it you can copy it from you iTunes library folder which is typically located in

Ok yes confirming 12.1 appears to have fixed this issue. I
synced 1 device after intentionally leaving incremental updated apps with UNC
mapping (per previous posting). So the devices fully syncd with a mix of drive
letter mapping and UNC. Probably best to do one final cleanup to get all drive
mappings consistent with your default per edit; preferences; advanced; Itunes
    Media Folder location.

    All the best

12.1 allowed me to sync as well!  It did re-install a bunch of apps that I had removed and it seems to sync my ALL selected songs every time (rather than just what has changed) therefore taking 2 hours to sync but alas IT SYNCED!!

Fixed confirmed.  Finally!!!. I tested on several different devices (iPhone 6, 5, and iPad AIR 2) all with IOS 8.1.3.  Thank you Apple.

It didn`t work for me. On all 3 computers the same problem. Latest version of iTunes, Windows 8.1 64bit, iPhone 5S. I have tried reinstalling iTunes, even to different folder. Nothing,. It happens for more than 2 months now and I am not able to access the purchased music, which drives me mad. Does anyone finally have the solution to this ?

    thanks
