Q: How to reinstall bootcamp assistant

I went into utilities->boot camp assistant->show package contents->contents->Info.plist and changed some of the code and now boot camp assistant always quits unexpectedly when I try to open it. How do I reset this program or what can I do. I am trying to duel boot my mac to run windows 7 premium home 64 bit. I am trying to use a flash drive with windows 7 .iso file but I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I pay $60 for windows and I can't even install it. There are so many errors and stupid formatting crap to do and now boot camp assistant doesn't work. I watched some guy on youtube and followed him exactly and now my bootcamp is messed. Someone please help.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

Hi, I've had the same experience, but then I have copied the backup info.plist replacing edited one and run sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app command into Terminal. Now Boot Camp Assistant is working!

    1. Open terminal from: Applications>Utilities>Terminal

    2. Type in this code: sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app

Expected result: /Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app: replacing existing signature

    3. Enter your password and press enter

    4. Reopen bootcamp.

    it'll work

A --deep qualifier is also helpful sometimes.

You can use codesign with the --deep qualifier. Please see man page for codesign for details.

Can you put the correct file in place first and then try the following command an test if Bootcamp Assistant will come up?

    sudo codesign -fs --deep - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app

    Hi there,

I'm a new user to Macs and I've ran into the same problem.

After trying to sign the change to info.plist with the command "sudo codesign -fs --deep - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app", the below appeared....

and now my bootcamp will start, but nothing will show up, only the bootcamp icon hopping around on the bottom tray...

2015-05-28 21:31:13.214 codesign[419:507] There was an error parsing the Info.plist for the bundle at URL Contents/Info.plist -- file:///Applications/Utilities/Boot%20Camp%20Assistant.app/

    }

/Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app: replacing existing signature

any ideas on whats going on??

    thanks heaps..

You have a typographical error in the Info.plist. See the highlighted part.

I have a feeling that I won't find another person who's so willing to help others over the internet, genuinely amazed, thank you.

I actually went back and found a back up over made prior to making any alterations, replaced the file with the backed up one and boot camp is back up and running.

My original intent in starting this was because boot camp would not load the windows 7 iso I had. It was telling me that it can only run an iso in 64bit.

Now I've decided to find a windows 8 iso in 64 bit and try again. See what would happen.

Can you check System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support for your specific Mac model/year to see which versions it can support?

    yup should support win8.1

what I have here is MacBook Pro 15" Retina mid 2014.

hopefully it will do the trick this time...
