The majority of ibooks from the iBookstore have digital rights management on them which tie them to the iBooks apps on iOS devices and Mac computers. You might be able to read free ibooks on your PC and those from publishers who don't include DRM on their books (e.g. O'Reilly) using apps such as Calibre, but you won't be able to read most ibooks on windows computers.

If you want to read books on a windows machine, you should buy them from other stores like Amazon, nook, kobo, google, sony and use the ereader apps which those stores provide.
