Thank you. It sounds like such a good idea I'm surprized I never heard of it before. Sort of like this Forum but in person. It would be especially useful in countries where thre are no Apple Stores and language is a barrier to being able to help a person.

It really depends on the group members and its president - it can be interesting or extremely boring. I went three times and it was only mildly engaging once, so I dropped it. Everyone seemed to have questions and no one had an answer. Of course, it could have just been this one here.....

I haven't been active in 20+ years, but the two main groups here in Dallas are DMUG & Apple Corps of Dallas (est. c.1984) - ÇÇÇ

I wonder if they have iPad only groups. I can teach people resets. 

Ask 'em... http://www.hmaus.org/ - they have even modified their name (all of 'em were 'MUGs' - they're even a "Society"!) since their inception in 1979 (I guess an ocean is less of an obstacle to AppleLove than the roads 'twixt Cupertino and Texas)
