Did you try to set ti back to factory settings, without using the latest backup?

Feb 3, 2015 4:13 AM in response to ashes152by dilbert41,If the phone is telling you "Invalid SIM" (if thats what you mean by a SIM failure) it usually means that the SIM is not valid for the phone carrier it is locked to.
Did you buy the phone second-hand ? If YES then the phone was probably Jailbroken by the previous owner to unlock it. The update to 8.1.3 will have removed the jailbreak, thus locking it to the original carrier.
