Q: Bootcamp Press any key to boot CD/DVD Won't work

Installed Windows using Bootcamp, "all good so far!"

Mac reboots last time and goes into windows startup. Black screen with blinking cursor, "FML!"

Reboot Mac holding 'alt' - Menu pops up, press Windows disc to attempt to get into repair mode.

"Press any key to boot windos cd/dvd" - *press random key* nothing happens!. *press all keys on my keyboard*(wired usb mac keyboard) - still nothing.

I have tried to use a USB windows(dell) keyboard aswell, still nothing.

Anybody has a solution for this? Have been searching answers for 2 days now!

Thanks a lot for the quick response! Really appreciated!

Tried this and it didn't work, but you might have gotten me one step closer though. My iMac don't fall under any of those models as it's a 21.5inch late 2009 and not 27 inch. But something must have happened as now I can acces the System recovery options which I couldn't do before because it got stuck on "Press any key to boot windos cd/dvd"

Is there any way to add the drivers from here? There is a tab in the system recovery options that says Add drivers but according to System  recovery options there is nothing on the USB.

This is starting to get REALLY complicated...

Using Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support, find the correct drivers for your version of Windows (they may be on a DVD which came with the iMac). This is the line you are interested in.

    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009)-44DVDDVDDVD

The link in the table points to Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033. These may be the drivers you need.

Download the drivers to a USB or use the DVD after Windows Repair has started, and load drivers as you need. More than likely, the GPU driver is what is missing. Please also see Frequently Asked Questions about installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp - Apple Support.

So I followed the steps you gave me, turns out I have an early '09 20-inch(not 21.5 as I wrote previously) Is it possible that my iMac doesn't support 64bit?

So I  Downloaded the drivers compatible with my mac also I tried with the drivers that came with boot camp - went into System recovery options - Add Drivers - Just kept saying these drivers don't have any information about your computer or something in that line.

Please run the following command in OS X Terminal. This is an example from my Mac.

    sysctl hw.cpu64bit_capable

    hw.cpu64bit_capable: 1

You should be able to install 64-bit Windows. What is the version of Bootcamp Assistant that you currently have?

I don't really know what to make of this. Does it support? Or do I have to get drivers from another Boot camp version? Also should have posted this pic before. 'tidigt' means 'early' I read somewhere that if you have "intel core 2 duo" you can have 64bits but if you only have "intel core duo" then you are not supported.

You do have a Intel C2D, but it may not support Windows 64-bit. If BCA refuses to install the 64-bit, try the 32-bit Windows.
