Q: iTunes won't sync to new iPhone 6Plus - prompts to authorize computer

iTunes 12.0.1.26, Yosemite 10.10.1, New iPhone 6Plus and hours of sync attempt frustration!

iTunes 12 just won't sync to the 6 Plus,  It keeps telling me that computer is not authorized.

1.  I've gone through he de-auth and re-auth dozens of times, also deauth'd all devices and re-auth just this Macbook Pro.

2.  Gone through steps in the article iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

3.  My old 5S still syncs fine.

4.  iTunes recognized the device plugged in but it is not seen in Manage Devices

5.  While plugged in iTunes recognizes the App updates I do on the device and changes them from Will Install to Remove status after the update.  Also was able to do an OS upset to 8.1.1 while plugged in so it knows how to communicate to the device but just can't sync.

I did a restore of a saved 5S which only brought back abut 20% of my apps.  In looking at the Apps section when the device is plugged I see my other 100+ apps and screen configurations but hitting the sync results in the computer not authorized rejection dialog.

There seems to be a lot of Internet hits on this subjects but no silver bullet answer.    Anybody have some other ideas here?

Had the same problems - couldn't sync iPhone or iPad with iTunes after installing Yosemite. I reinstalled Yosemite and iOS on phone and iPad, but nothing worked. All I got was the spinning wheel of death overtime I tried to sync either device.

Set up an online appt. with Apple so they could see my screen (ara.apple.com). The first person I spoke with basically did all the things I had tried my self, but she didn't have any luck either, so she bumped it up to a senior support tech. He tried some different things, such as checking to see if syncing with iPhoto worked (it did), deleting a few files, and then reinstalling iTunes, but again no luck.  He then had me mimic trying to sync the devices to my Mac, but this time he had me record it, so he could share the process with his up-line senior support.  It took two days for them to find out what the problem was, but he called me back like he said he would. He then had me delete a few lines of code, and then add a few other lines of code that he sent me. After reinstalling iTunes again after this, it worked perfectly!!  His name was Joseph, and I can't thank him and Apple support enough.

I had this same problem and just had it fixed with iTunes Support.

For reasons I won't go into, we had setup a Family account for myself and my wife.  We configured her new iPhone 6 using her new Apple ID (not mine as her iPhone 4 was).  After a bit of trouble getting the Family account working, we abandoned that and reconfigured the iPhone 6 with my logon.  When we tried to sync, we got the error in this thread.  We tried removing and reading the computer but did not fix it.  We deleted all the Apps from the computer, but no joy.  Finally we deleted all the Apps on the iPhone 6 and Voila!  Sync worked.

The problem?  While the iPhone 6 was configured using my wife's Apple ID she added an App t it.  When we tried to sync, using iTunes from my Apple ID, it was not able to remove/update the App she added - so it failed.  Once the offending App was removed, it worked!

    Hope this helps!

I'm having an issue where it has only authorised half of the apps on my phone, so when i go to apps on the phone its like some of the apps were never even on there. This is an issue because one of the apps that is not getting recognised is the app i want to take the ringtones that i made off it.

If anyone knows how to fix my problem it would be much appreciated if someone could reply! Thanks

Hello, I had the same issue, I got really frustrated but then I looked at my apps updater and deleted any apps that needed updating on my phone that were not bought with my account.  I then tried to sync my phone and it worked fine.  If you can't determine which apps came from your account, you may have to delete all the apps on your phone, sync the phone then  instal the apps again using iTunes.

    Hope it works for you.

    Good Luck

Had the same issue and was incredibly frustrating. I found that I had different Apple ID's to purchase music. I clicked on one of the songs it wasn't syncing and clicked on File->Get Info. Go the last tab and it will show you what Apple ID you used to purchase/download. I then logged into iTunes using that ID, authorized the computer, and everything synced fine.
