Q: A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

My iPad 2 has become unusable due to constant reloading of web pages with the following message "

A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

I tired resetting net work and rebooting the iPad, neither helped.  It seems to be a common problem.  Does Apple have a fix or are they working on a fix or do they no longer plan to support iPad 2s?  It would be nice to hear from Apple.

Thanks.

iPad 2, iOS 8.1.1

No one here would know about Apple bug fixing since this is a user community. You won't get a response from Apple here.

I have an iPad 3rd generation and I get that message as well so it has nothing to do with having an iPad 2. The message means exact,y what it says, there was a problem loading the web site. In some situations, it just might be a problem with the website itself. Please note that I said in "some" situations. If you are getting this message every single time that you try to load a page, something is wrong.

Did you clear Safari, close all apps and then reset the iPad? Settings>Safari>Clear history and website data.

Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.

Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I have the same problem with my iPad Air. It started after iOS 8.1 and is, if anything, worse with 8.1.2.  It doesn't happen with every page but I very seriously doubt it's the web pages.  They load fine everywhere else and it always happens on one of Safari's tab reloads.  Doesn't ever happen with Chrome.

Corrrection, it does happen with Chrome.  In fact a link I found on CNN today crashes IOS itself.  My Air is pretty much useless now.  It gets worse with every update.

I find it interesting that on both the iPad2 and iPad3, using both Safari and Chrome, the same problem occurs each and every time I use a browser.  It seems to be related to the network stack in IOS or the IOS Javascript engine, since js seems dead until I do something to revive it.  For example, I was unable to add a REPLY to this post on the iPad since all the js reply links were non-functional.

I am now doing most of my browsing (and all of my shopping and banking) on the Chromebook.  I would really love to see this fixed.

I couldn't agree more.  I am also using my $199 Acer Chromebook a lot.  It always works fine, but of course I would very much prefer my 3x more expensive and more convenient iPad for browsing.

Im getting same problem on an iPad 4. In fact, chrome was becoming unusable - kept crashing - so I switched to safari and started getting that message. Lovely. So now my 2 year old ipad can't browse. Thanks very much Apple. No doubt their solution would be to buy the latest ipad.

This happens on my iPad 3 on Safari as well, but it only happens at Facebook.com and only when I try to pinch-zoom a photo. In fact, a lot of annoying Safari behavior has been happening at Facebook's web site after ios8, but I will only focus on this one in this thread.

I feel this is greatly reduced under iOS 8.1.3 but I have seen it at least once.  I totally agree this is gesture related.  Under iOS 8.1.3 things are much snappier, with only an occasional delay and one "sighting" or the message in a browser.  It's tolerable, at least.

This seems to have nothing to do with any particular hardware, as it happens on my iPad 2, my friends iPad 3 and the the iPad I was messing around with yesterday at an Apple Store! No...this has got to be totally software related. And of course, the problem showed up with ios8...and Apple shrugs.

WWell, they may shrug and ignore our problems, but on looking back through the thread I discovered that one of my posts was <Edited by Host>.  Apparently it's not kosher to notice the emperor has no clothes on.  I don't remember what I said but I'm sure it wasn't profane.  Must have hit a sore point.

I think the common thread with these crashes is related to JavaScript processing, and possibly specifically with working with text. Operations which take a long time to complete seem to cause the problem a lot. There are many reports about the crash happening with various forums. The crash can happen with Google's Octane JavaScript benchmark.

The problem does not seem to be easily associated with memory, or at least it's possible to reproduce the problem quickly after a fresh browser launch. In my web app, this always seems to occur when parsing very large XML documents. I've reduced the problem by breaking up and shortening operations, but I still see the crash on occasion.
