Sep 28, 2014 6:28 AM in response to Sayed Shah Jehanby sterling r,Hello there Sayed Shah Jehan,
It sounds like your iOS update is downloading too slow. Take a look at this information from the following article, about troubleshooting over the air downloads:
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update
Download takes a long time, or you can't reach update server
iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. You can use your device normally while downloading the iOS update, and iOS will notify you when you can install the update. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content.
If you get a message that "an error occurred downloading iOS," try again later. If the issue persists, try updating your device in another network or use iTunes to update your device. Learn more about iOS updates.
Update does not complete
If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
You can also use iTunes on your computer to update your iPhone, so that is an option as well:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch iOS software
The 'Update your device using iTunes' section speficially.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Regards,
Sterling

Jan 13, 2015 9:11 AM in response to sterling rby gibberish13,Its downloading super slow through iTunes on my computer as well. Not 16 hrs however but a 1.46 GB download is not that much for me. I got a 10 GB game yesterday in about 2 hours.

Jan 30, 2015 4:27 PM in response to gibberish13by clarencew4,Same here....I have the iphone connected to my Mac via wire, and I am downloading the iOS update via iTunes. 1.46 GB is estimated to take 8 hours, yet my download speed from the internet is 30Mbps. This is ridiculous.

Feb 3, 2015 3:17 PM in response to sterling rby iseesquare,FYI-
IOS via iTunes via phone connected to Macbook Pro with a USB cord, connecting to the Internet via Ethernet cord to Router, does not download. iTunes claims more than 10 hours, and then 11 then 12 then... The Activity Monitor shows very very very little progress, less than half a 3.5" floppy per second. I am not using a dial-up modem; my BW is about 30 Mbps when downloading Starwars Uncut. I also downloaded an ISO for a Linux distro in significantly less time than IOS with the same configuration. There is clearly a BW problem at Apple with all this downloading demand.

Feb 3, 2015 9:50 PM in response to Sayed Shah Jehanby davidcowart,I'm having the same issue... My wife has an AT&T iphone 5S with iOS 7.0.4 on her phone. Today I wanted to get her updated to 8.1.3 but the download speed is extremely slow...Fluctuating between 14-20hours. It reminds me of the days of dial up. I've checked my internet connection. I have a 40M connection to the internet and I read the article listed by sterling r. I know that I have a good connection that meet the specifications talked about in the article. I suspect there is an issue that is not related to my internet connection. Apple please fix it.

Feb 9, 2015 1:37 AM in response to Sayed Shah Jehanby YouWhat,I'm on fibre connection (76MB Download), there is nothing else running to download or upload, and I have an ETA of 2 days. I am downloading IOS 8.1.3 for my 4S and getting a speed of 10.2KB/s, which is quite frankly, shockingly poor from a company like Apple
You can't tell me that the servers are getting overloaded from people doing updates! There is something very wrong on your end Apple and it needs to be looked into and resolved ASAP.
I am wondering if they are undergoing some DDOS attack or something like. I have cancelled the download a few times to restart getting it, and every single time, I only achieve 10.2KB/s, never goes over that (It would probably be quicker to walk to Apples campus in the USA to get it sorted, rather than waiting for a very slow download!!!!!)
***EDIT***
I have just got the link for the iOS and using WGET on my server(located in France), it is downloading at over 11MB/s.... something here is very messed up!!

Apr 10, 2015 11:02 AM in response to YouWhatby eclectic_guy,Agreed - something is STILL very wrong, as I'm writing this in April and iTunes is telling me I have a 7 hour wait. Performing a speed test (speedtest.net) while iTunes is attempting downloading (or not as the bar doesn't seem to be moving) I'm getting 15.94 Mbps.

Apr 11, 2015 3:49 AM in response to eclectic_guyby KjGarly,Same for me. Tried downloading iOS 8.3 through iTunes for my 6 Plus and I was getting an estimated download time of 39-40 hours which is shocking as I can download 40-50GB games from Origin/Steam in less than 2 hours. Ended up downloading over WiFi from the phone itself which took a few minutes to download and install. Bloody joke iTunes is.

Apr 11, 2015 8:01 AM in response to Sayed Shah Jehanby Mark Castleman,I am having a similar problem. I am trying to download 8.3 through iTunes and it has been downloading for 10 hours now and iTunes is showing 154.2MB out of 1.55GB with 19 hours remaining. I am using a 7 Mb/s DSL line, and SpeedTest shows its download speed is what is to be expected, and I have no antivirus software running. This has been a persistent problem for all Apple OS downloads, some have taken 4 or 5 days to download. I find it interesting that when I downloaded the SkyView app, which is 163 MB. that took just under 3 minutes to download the same amount of data that has, for the iOS update, taken 10 hours.

Apr 13, 2015 10:20 AM in response to Mark Castlemanby melissalungu,Same here....my iPhone won't connect to my wifi at all, so am wanting to restore factory settings, which means uploading all my photos and videos...but my PC won't recognise my iPhone, so am trying to install latest iOS via iTunes (since I can't connect to wifi) but it's saying 6 hours remaining............yaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwn)

Apr 13, 2015 11:21 AM in response to KjGarlyby eclectic_guy,Tried downloading directly from WiFi as you did and it worked...in less than ten minutes I was up and running. iTunes servers have issues that need to be addressed by Apple.

Apr 14, 2015 3:24 PM in response to Sayed Shah Jehanby 1frustratedguy,Little humour for everone.
Opened up a chat support call as my new iPad can't seem to get 8.3 downloaded.
iTunes says 21 hours to download.
iPad over the air jumps between 1 hour, 47 minutes, 32 minutes and 23 minutes at random intervals.
Support from Apple tells me I have to install the latest iTunes software on my computer and connect the iPad to it to restore it.
Important note: I clearly said I was trying to download 8.3 update.
One small problem: to update to iTunes its 9 hours to download that update!!!!
So I pull out another computer with the latest iTunes on it, guess what 21 hours to download the 8.3 update!!!!!
So I guess I just accept i can't use my new iPad tonight and will have to let it "download" all night. Fingers crossed I get to use it tomorrow!!!!

Apr 19, 2015 10:54 AM in response to 1frustratedguyby Henk Doorenspleet,Same here, endless download time for iOS8.3 For the first time in my long OSX and somewhat shorter iOS history download is horrible. When I do a speedtest.net test during the download I achieve problems 1150-125Mbps download speeds. It appears to me that apple's CDN is broken, but form many weeks already.
This tier is active since autumn14...
I consider to bring my iOS backups and data to iCloud now I experience it might not a very good idea given the flaky performance of the apple servers:(
Any solution on the horizon?
