Q: Lost Windows partition after upgrading to Yosemite

Hi all,

Hope you can help since upgrading my Mac OS to Yosemite, I have been unable to log back into my Windows Partition. If i hold alt on start up on the mac disk is shown. I have seen a few similar issues on this forum and been trying to follow the post but struggling a little now so wondered if some could help with next step

This seems to be the info from the other threads. I have installed the test disk utility and done a analyse on the disk, i'm little unsure of what to do now, i would like if possible to go back into the windows instead of reinstalling as i have quite a bit of data on that side of the disk.

Any help massively appreciated Dave

Can you post the output of the following command?

sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s4 count=1 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C (This will dump the NTFS header).

Just saw your output. You do not have a valid NTFS header. Please see https://imgur.com/a/PjmnK for screen sequence of Testdisk.

I missed it too. Please see the IMGUR link for the Deeper Search after you select the first MS Data partition.

Ok thanks, i'll start the deeper search and let you know i think it might be some time, as the quick search took over a hour

Deeper Search is a sector-by-sector scan of the disk. It can take several hours, depending on the size of the disk. SSDs are in general faster than HDDs.

Hey Loner T, sorry the deeper search took a lot longer than expected. Although i seem to have the same page now as the previous search any help would be much appreciated.

Do i just click continue?

Yes, please click Continue. It should give you a Deeper Search option.

Loner this is what I did last night the same list came up I went down one and selected deeper dive, and this is what it came back to, not sure if i'm doing something wrong.

P.S this is the next screen

I can only list the file in the two top options, so the two EFi is this correct?

Are ok sorry i didn't go down the whole, list i think i have found what we needed

This was the one with the system volume in.

Right think I'm nearly there now, can see boot camp in my finder, but think i messed the MBR up so will try again now
