Q: Why does iTunes 12.1 does not sync new calendar appointments with Outlook 2013?

After updating iTunes to 12.1 64 bit for windows my NEW appointments, contacts and notes are not syncing from Outlook 2013 to my iPhone 5 and iPad Air.  Syncing was working fine before I updated to iTunes 12.1.  I have disabled all add-ins in Outlook just in case they were the cause of the problem but that hasn't helped either.

Same issue here, running Win 7 Ultimate and Office 2013.  Discovered after installing latest build of iTunes (12.1.x.x) that Outlook plugin was not included.  Apple support was unable to resolve this morning.  I reverted to iTunes 12.0.1.26 and plugin is reinstalled.  You can download this version of iTunes at FileHippo http://filehippo.com/download_itunes_64/58981/.  Unfortunately, it was necessary to rename the iTunes Library.itl file before the older version would start, then had to redownload all of my apps since the database rebuild did not populate my app list.

What a pain in the ***.

Other possible workaround is to sync contacts and appointments to iCloud, although I chose not to do so.

Thanks everyone.  I also found a website for the installer 12.0.  Without the support community, I would still be unable to sync.  6 days talking with apple support was very painful......then I had to explain to them this morning what needed to be done to resolve my issue.

Lesson learned....keep a copy of the old installer and hold off for several months before updating.

I have been talking with Apple about this same issue concerning Outlook 2013.  After three uninstalls/reinstalls of iTunes 12.1, Apple has determined that the Outlook/Apple add-in is not installing.  The Senior Advisor is supposed to be contacting engineering department for me and finding a solution, but that won't happen until at least Monday.  I'm happy to learn from this thread that I can reinstall an earlier version and get my syncing abilities back.  Thanks for the info.

Same problem here! I have been trying to figure this out for several days, uninstalling, re-installing, etc.. I have Windows 7, Outlook 2010, and iTunes 12.1 (all 64 bits) and the "iTunes Outlook Addin" simply went missing... can't even find the DLL..! This is absurd.. The ONLY reason I use iTunes is to sync with my devices... Does the ""engineering"" department even test their products at all..???

DO NOT use iCloud unless you want Apple to hijack all your data into their Outlook "iCloud profile" (which *****) without even a notice..!!! I had to restore from a backup PST file and completely removed iCloud...

It would have been 2 weeks on Friday for me if I hadn't gone back to version 12.0. Can't believe they haven't fixed this yet.

You are right,. iTunes now 'ignores' Microsoft Outlook and will not sync data without convoluted and unnecessary actions that I see so many exasperated people have resorted to. Most of us don't have the time to go to those extremes though and such steps should be entirely unnecessary to resolve a problem with an IOS that originally came with the functionality. 'Cleverly' Apple has broken the vital core functionality that all PC users rely upon to make their [expensive] 'phone' a Smartphone.

I don't know about you, but I rely upon syncing my diary, contacts and calendar several times a day and now my iPhone is just a phone, with th core apps no longer working.

Steve Jobs was the visionary of the company and when he died so did Apple, they just don't seem to realise it yet. With every 'new' release since he passed on, its now bugs, problems and breakages of existing functionality, certainly to a much higher level than on his watch. These new problems at Apple are not why I purchased our iPad's and iPhones and Apple is on this occasion being particularly slack in fixing a self-inflicted problem for the best part of its user base.

One would think, reasonably, that as it is clearly their own product that is broken, Apple would quickly announce it and say when the fix is out rather than us having to 'wait' interminably for one.

Hello ....Apple, [it is evident you don't care but] have you ever heard of beta testing before release as clearly you did not do it on this occasion and your premium prices devices are little better than expensive doorstops.

Somebody should be held responsible for this unnecessary headache, it literally drove me crazy for the last three days, when I had the unfortunate idea of updating iTunes. My iPhone 6 / Outlook 2013 synchronizing problem was solved by removing all the Apple software from my Windows 7 and reinstalling an older version of iTunes (11.4.0.18), advice found here in this forum. Thank you for helping me getting out of this mess!

I have the same issue with IPhone 4 the colander and the contact are not updating.

I lost few meetings because of this issue.

I have plans to purchases a new device. Will it be Android base or IPhone?

    This might help my decision.

As others here have mentioned, after updating iTunes to version 12.1.0.71 in the beginning of February, I lost the ability to synchronize with Outlook 2010 contacts and calenders. I was in contact with the local Apple help-center, but there is not much they can do except tell Apple, that there is a problem. I don't want to spend a lot of time removing iTunes and re-installing version 12.0, so I will just keep pushing Apple and hope, that by now someone have realized, that this malfunction needs to be fixed asap, since this is a BIG problem to many.

I followed the following steps and corrected the problem not being able to sync iPhone calendar with Outlook calendar.

Connect iPhone to PC via USB>Start iTunes>Select "Your" iPhone listed in the upper left window>Select "Info">Ensure the "Sync Calendar" box is checked>Select Apply>Sync

    That should do it!

iTunes 12.1.1 out. It is supposed to address issues with Outlook, among other things.
