iPhoto '11 or later: About the Library Upgrader - Apple Support
Then you launch iPhoto to finish the upgrade
In future posts you need to provide all details including messages you receive

well i didn't receive any messages at that point - the details i described was the entirety of my experience. however just now when i tried to run the library upgrader, it says "Your library can open with the current version of Iphoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool." yet i still cannot open and run iphoto. do you any suggestions? thank you

Feb 6, 2015 12:09 PM in response to okxndraby LarryHN,Backup your iPhoto library, Hold down the option and command keys and double click on the iphoto library to launch iPhoto - key the keys down until the first aid window appears and rebuild your library
