Yosemite Display Glitches

HI there,

I have just upgraded to OS X 10.10 and I am getting weird Graphical glitches like multi colored squares that flash around the screen.

Currently it seems to be centered around the AppStore and Safari. (and is happening as I type...Grrrr)

Any tips?

I really do not want to roll back but I might be forced to...User uploaded file

I can't see your image, but I do get glitches across the top of Mail.app. For example, I have the mailbox list along the left hand side, and when I scroll through them I get shimmery flashes across the title bar, but not outside the window. In the screenshot below, the shimmer appears as this translucent green blob along the top of the window. If I scroll one pixel, another blob appears further to the right.

I am running a mid 2012 rMBP 15" and have the display set to 1920x1200 scaled.

Yosemite crashed my system in the first hour of using it. I had VLC playing a stream and tried to move the window and the sound and display locked up completely. Animations and scrolling make an otherwise fast computer feel sluggish. Most important for me, I can't start Matlab, which probably isn't Apple's fault but is nonetheless a show stopper. I'm going to restore off my Mavericks backup later today and wait 6 months the dust to settle before trying this again.

Selecting "Reduced transparency" under Accessibility eliminates the shimmers. It seems to be slightly faster, too. I wish there were a "better performance & battery life" option to turn OFF most of the animations. Or maybe turn them off when running on the integrated graphics or on battery. The 2012 rMBP was already pushing the limit of the HD4000 graphics under Mavericks and all this transparency stuff makes a two-year-old computer crawl.

When swiching among applications my screen gets random pixelated glitches,

this issue has been happening after installed Yosemite 3 weeks ago.

I also had other issues which took my Macbook Pro to the Apple care support and got the motherboard and graphics card replaced

(it was still covered by my Apple Care Protection Plan).

Nonetheless this problem persists.... and the warranty expired meanwhile....
I do not think this could be and hardware problem, but probably an Yosemite bad software implementation.....
Please Apple: HELP!!!

Mine is doing the same. I have a way older, non retina Macbook Pro (15-in, Late 2008). I had just thought it was a glitch being a part of the beta releases, but hasn't resolved in any new seeds. Another slight symptom is that Xfinity's streaming TV will only show black while still playing audio and showing the controls.

I Too am having small square glitches popping up, it fluctuates on what screen setting I have the display set on, at first I thought it was that my monitor was not supported but it's almost identical to what people have been posting here. Hopefully Apple will do an update for the drivers and that will clear things up as it amazingly annoying at times

Same problem here - 15" MacBook Pro late 2011. The glitches started after OS X update from 10.9 to 10.0 Only when GPU is switched from internal to discrete. I spent hours by resetting PRAM, testing and discussion with support on Apple bug reporting site. Then I resigned and rolled back to 10.9 (on 10.9 it worked without any issue).

After 10.10.2 was released, I gave it a chance (ah what a silly I was) but nothing has changed. Now I'm thinking about rolling it back (again)

Why are you doing to us Apple!? 😟
