Q: LogicPro X missing new Project options

While watching tutorials on LogicPro X I have noticed missing from the new project window (on my 13" MacBook Pro with i7 processor, 8gb memory and 750 HDD running OSX Yosemite 10.10.2) is the Orchestral and Movie options? Am I required to switch something. I suddenly feel cheated as if I only have half the program I paid for?

    No worries...

So when you go to the New Project menu option and the template screen opens.. and you select New Project on the left hand side you still dont see the 6 items as templates? (as in my screenshot?)

If not then..... exactly in this order, step by step...

    1) Go to your Applications folder and delete the LPX app

    2) Empty Trash

    3) Restart your Mac

    4) Go to the Purchase tab in the Mac App Store app...

Note: If LPX is not listed under the Purchase tab then...

    a) You are not signed into the Mac App Store app using the same Apple ID you used to purchase LPX in the first place....

or... It is listed but there is no Install/Download button...

    b) You have another copy of the LPX app somewhere on your system drive or an external drive.... Find and delete or rename... Then restart Mac again...

    5) Click on the Download / Install button to far right of  the LPX entry found there.... (Don't click on the LPX icon on the lefthand side...)

    6) When installed go directly to your Applications fodler in Finder and launch LPX from there..

    7) Test with a new project.. and bring up the template screen again and see if this time all 6 templates appear listed as per my screenshot...

If this doesnt fix it.. I have a feeling tis is a reocurrance of a bug I commented about a long while ago now (in LP9.1.6!) that every so often rears it's ugly head again for some users...on some systems...

Read my post there on how to use a workaround to fix it....

Thanks for your help, but it's now 02.35 on the 6th and to avoid any mistakes I am going to leave this for tomorrow/later today. Reading this, yes I do have other Apple ID's do to previous reinstallations, following update crashes, so I am not looking forward to this. I have been uneasy about this and just before my 3 year support ran out I had assurances that all AID's were merged. It was after Maverick upgrade that I had to reinstall with a new AID, ended up I had to have a Genius Bar session and my laptop was Zapped by the MOTHER computer.....

I just tested this on a fresh install of 10.1 compared to an updated version of 10.1 and sure enough the two templates are missing again....

1st IMac Updated version with both LPX and LP9 installed...

    Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 21.49.15.png

2nd iMac with only LPX ever installed on it....and new copy of 10.1 not updated from earlier version...

    new template LPX.png

    Both 10.10.2 and 10.1

Both copies of LPX contain all 6 templates within the app itself...

    No worries.. Totally understand!

Note: After further testing I think its a reoccurrence of an old bug so don't bother doing what i suggested in the last post....

I'm asking around to see if anyone knows the cause and real fix rather than the workaround i published several years ago....

If I find anything out, Ill post it up here... for you.

    Good night

Standing by, did a quick project to test a few things and have access again for Drum names on the piano roll after shutting down etc. I understand how to access the other project options, so when I want to I shall browse. Seems like I made the right decision and went to bed. Thanks for all your help.

    Good morning,      Patrick

Freb 6th 14:09 - Opened and had a look at Orchestral and Music for Picture, I am totally blown away and see no need for these to available for my limited ability, But I am exceedingly thankful for showing how to access them, they both seem to be functioning well in the few seconds I spent with them. Patrick

The Orchestral display was a complete surprise. I was expecting....wel I had no expectations!!!!

No he can't get off that easily, I downloaded the additional content right at the start and again recently after the 10 new drummer sets were installed, on all occaisions I have checked all the boxes (I have the volume on my hard drive and if I don't have it at hand I can't use it/stumble on, so!)

Do you start early or thats not your time zone either???? Patrick( 15:18)

The New Project box showing all 6 types, you indicate there can be some link between LPX and LP9. I have both loaded. Although I haven't opened LP9 since installing LPX, LP9 was installed already when LPX was installed. This is not that important, I shal fire up LP9 then leave an update....

Look what showed up when I opened LP9; " Logic Pro X can be installed simultaneously with Logic Pro 9 on the same system and can open projects back to Logic 5, so the transition to the new version is easy." ?

    Hi

I was watching some sampling tutorials using EXS24 thinking all was satisfactory when the instructor clicked on some items, which when stopping the tut and asking help where these switchs were. Turned out they were only accessable on drop-down menus. So I uninstalled LPX, emptied the trash, restarted, installed LPX and no change. I am currently emptying Logic Pro 9 from the trash to see how LPX feels on her own. The next step as I see it, if no change, would be to uninstall LPX so there are no Logic Apps then reinstall LPX..

Interesting point:- Logic Pro 9 has nearly twice the application file volume to delete as Logic Pro X......

If I understand you correctly, you are missing some features in the EXS24

This is because you have not turned on all the Advanced tools in Logic Pro X's preferences/Advanced Tools

Turn them on and the  missing 'switches' in the EXS24 will appear.....ll

All boxes have been ticked throughout these exploits..Just like to tell everyone who's read these; reinstalling LPX and LP9 has made no noticeable difference to my MacBook Pro, but it did waste the best part of a day..
