Q: On My Mac option for notes

I did a clean install of Yosemite and saved my notes to iCloud so that I could retrieve them after install. The On My Mac option has disappeared and I want it back. I have read the "solution" available here Archive or make copies of your iCloud data - Apple Support
It is useless to me. I don't want a hundred document files on my computer with my notes in them. I don't want emails of them. I want them in the notes app, under the On My Mac list. And I don't want to access my notes through iCloud forever more. I want the On My Mac option back in the side bar and to move my notes back from iCloud to this location. Please advise.
