Q: DNS lookup issues - Safari fails, chrome works, ping fails, nslookup works

Hi,

I'm having issues with DNS resolution in 10.10.2

These seem to appear when switching connections - for example I was connected by both Wifi and Ethernet, and turned off wifi.

What I typically notice is that I'll google something and then click a result and Safari just hangs.

If I open it in Chrome, it works immediately.

Curious about DNS resolution, I opened terminal and typed "ping www.<specific url>.com"  That failed "Cannot resolve ... Unknown host"

Then I tried nslookup www.<specific url>.com That worked, instantly.

Has anyone else seen this - is there a configuration fix I can do?

(I noted that by changing my network location to something else and back it started working, so that's one possible fix, but I'd love not to have to do that manually)
