Feb 7, 2015 11:14 AM in response to Skyler Spaeth CGby Allan Jones,★HelpfulI still have a working 2003 PowerBook G4 (17-inch; 1Ghz) that works with both a wired (ethernet port on side) and wireless connection. However, it wasn;t until April 2004 that wireless hardware was standard instead of optional, so a lot of older PowerBooks do not have wireless built-in.

Feb 14, 2015 6:05 PM in response to Skyler Spaeth CGby my ginger,★HelpfulHi Is there a reason you need to run single user mode for this? When ethernet is used it is on automatically as long as you have an active network. Wifi is setup from what ever active wifi network you have. You inter network name, password and type of encryption. Check the box save in keychain. You cannot run both at the same time, though they both can be on. It will default to ethernet if you have a ethernet cable plugged in.

Feb 15, 2015 5:03 PM in response to my gingerby Skyler Spaeth CG,Yes, because I only want a terminal and no GUI.
I tried Ethernet and it didn't work, however that was probably because my Ethernet cable is bad. Is there a command to set up wifi in single user mode, like iwconfig?

Feb 16, 2015 4:14 PM in response to Skyler Spaeth CGby Jan Hedlund,If you for some reason absolutely wish to use a terminal and Linux-style commands, could a PowerPC version of Ubuntu (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ) possibly be of interest for experiments?

Feb 17, 2015 5:58 AM in response to Skyler Spaeth CGby Jan Hedlund,It may even be possible to install a version without a GUI. Check the options offered by an Alternate CD to begin with. See also the aforementioned FAQ for details, and about where to get more help.
