Feb 7, 2015 5:33 PM in response to alanchrishughesby Barney-15E,Have you tried going to the Users & Groups system prefs and enable Automatic Login there?
I haven't found any other settings that will disable that checkbox.

If one of those turns out to fix it, please post back with the solution.

It seems to be ignoring everything I change in the Users & Groups options, because Chrome kept opening automatically, and so I unchecked Chrome under the "Login Items" menu, but it is still opening automatically at start up
