Apr 26, 2015 2:05 AM in response to buttelax95by LouLou321,Use VLC to open your DVD. I am not AT ALL particularly tech savvy! I'm intelligent just not tech savvy. This was sooo easy to do. Just downloaded VLC (Well I already had it on my docking station, as I use to slow down the speed when I'm listening to something in French - makes it easier for a not-yet-brilliantly-fluent French speaker to understand.) So I just opened VLC and then clicked on Open Media, inserted my DVD that previously wouldn't play on my Mac because of the region, and Voila! French movie is now playing fine on my MacBook Air. Hoorah for VLC!

May 1, 2015 1:55 PM in response to jakeboyby Ixax,You offered help for those having problems with region drive difficulties. That certainly describes me. I have DVDs from 3 regions and it is incredibly frustrating not to be able to play all of them. I would very must like to try your solution.

Aug 22, 2015 4:05 PM in response to LouLou321by JEL888,For the latest version of OS X (as of my post date), this worked though with a few moments of jumpy or lagged video. So, you have to bear with the Superdrive (if that's what you use) not apparently liking VLC much, but still worth if for those os us international travel types that have different DVD region movies to play. Thanks!

Sep 12, 2015 6:28 AM in response to buttelax95by johnos14850,Has anyone tried putting in a region zero (Region free) dvd on their 5th change? Would it then lock to allow all regions or would it not even cause a change in the settings since it's w/o a
region?
-
Sep 12, 2015 6:42 AM in response to johnos14850by Klaus1,It will lock it to last region you chose.
However see this also:

Instead, use VLC to view videos from different regions:

Sep 9, 2016 7:35 AM in response to littlebirdeltby Eric Root,You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.
