    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

     

    I understand that some songs you imported to iTunes will not play or sync and show an exclamation point next to them. In this situation, I would recommend reading over and working through the attached article to resolve this issue.

    To make it simple, the minute you remove the pen drive the tracks are no longer there, you have to drag the files on to your Hard Drive then add to iTunes, if you then move them on your Hard Drive the same will happen, you will get the exclamation mark, you must leave the files where they are on your hard drive after adding them to iTunes.
