Q: Yosemite made my MacBook Pro so slow. Need help.

I Upgraded my MBP (2012), from Mavericks to Yosemite and it slowed my computer down to the point where it became unusable.  I repaired the permissions, and even reinstalled Yosemite but it didn't help.  My MBP is crawling and I'm hoping someone can walk me through a solution.  Need help.

OK, for you he same: it is better to start a new thread, post the link here.

    But do it after this:

download  AdwareMedic   from thesafemac, com   run it and a you infetctions are gone.

Then  in SystemPrefenrences_<Users&groups->LoginItems:  remove ALL entries by selecting them and thenremove them with the minus sign underneath.

    Uninstall Bittorrrent..

    Then restart the mac.

Do not start any of the apps that you so eleiminated from starteing automatically: all your issues are gone.

More is to be done. Start a new thread and post the link here.

If you arrived at this site through a web search, don't search for "slow mac". The assistance you require can be found in a search for "cleanmymac".

John Galt  pointed you to CleanMyMac: you can read every thread that that software is CRAP. It cripples your mac. Depending on what you did with it, you have to either uninstall it completely, or format your drive, install OS, move your data by hand from a backup.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you said, but if you had bothered to read what probably hundreds of others in this forum have said about their experience with this app you would understand that it may well have done you more harm than good by removing items that are essential to the operation of your computer and it's applications.

Why not simply remove it as a test and if your problem doesn't go away it's a simple matter to re-install it.  I strongly suspect that you won't get any additional assistance in this particular discussion topic unless you at least do that.

Huntvillage - I ran the Etre check, however due to the fact that I can't even get my computer to stay on as it just keeps snapping off due to the instability of it I can't access it again right now. My hard drive appears to be ok, however I am running cleanmymac 2. I also got rid of all the adware I had on my computer and don't have Firevault 2 enabled. I will send my Etre results as soon as I can get my computer to stay on long enough to run it again. It just blows my mind that Apple releases these unsafe crippling update's to it's customers in the first place.

    Thanks!

Then you need to take it to an Apple certified repair facility as that indicates a hardware failure.

I am running cleanmymac 2....It just blows my mind that Apple releases these unsafe crippling update's to it's customers in the first place.

Then it's CleanMyMac2 that has ruined your computer, not Apple.  A very large majority of users are having no major issues whatsoever with Yosemite.

I ran the Etre check, however due to the fact that I can't even get my computer to stay on as it just keeps snapping off due to the instability of it, I can't access it again right now. My hard drive appears to be ok, however I am running cleanmymac 2. I also got rid of all the adware I had on my computer and don't have Firevault 2 enabled. I will send my Etre results as soon as I can get my computer to stay on long enough to run it again. It just blows my mind that Apple releases these unsafe crippling update's to it's customers in the firs

    Thanks!

    My Etre check is below:

Thank you Lex I will remove all of the software that hasn't been removed already and see if that helps.

As for Aperture, is there an update available for it anywhere? It isn't available in my app store for the yosemite upgrade.

Thank you so much for your help. I am going to start a new thread for this topic.

    Jennifer
