Q: Disk0s4 After Yosemite installation

Hi Loner T

I have read the thread you provided and it seems i have seen it before also. To be honest, if there's a fix that's great, however id like to do it without having to re install windows as i don't have my CD image anymore, i hope you have come across cases where this is possible?

It does look like from the fixes at least that my data and the windows OS are there its just remapping them i mean the files and Windows 7 itself haven't just vanished!

Also i would need some step by step instructions with your direct intervention as i don't understand a lot of the stuff in the instructions you have been giving to people, i mean i an execute based on your instructions but i am not an expert in the Mac OS. Can i ask if you are based in the US just thinking about the time difference involved as we try to resolve this.

I am very relived to see that there is at least a fix for this stupid stupid bug, as far as i am concerned a partition means exactly that, and installing a Mac OS update would not affect a partition that has nothing to do with Mac OS.

Anyway, your help in the process is appreciated.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

    For example...

Creating entry for GPT partition #2 (MBR partition #2)

Enter an MBR hex code (default AF): AF

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): n

Creating entry for GPT partition #3 (MBR partition #3)

Enter an MBR hex code (default AB): AB

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): n

Creating entry for GPT partition #4 (MBR partition #4)

Enter an MBR hex code (default 07): 07

Set the bootable flag? (Y/N): y

    VICTORY

Currently typing this from Windows 7. Your last message was it, i cant belive it, if id read a little harder id have been done ages ago, once i re-done the GDISK with the defualt letters in it booted into it straight away. i still get the flashing under line cursor for about 10 seconds then splash screen comes up but this time it booted straight into 7 no issues.

it still said invalid ID on the sudo fdisk /dev/disk0 command for number 1 but the rest are fine and coming up with the proper names not the "XENIX /usr" so i guess the invalid id on the first one doesnt matter as windows worked straight away and everything is here and fine??.

Your a complete life saver btw really appreciate it.

The first partition which EFI is EE, so it is unknown for MBR. Diskpart on the Windows side does understand it.

This is similar to what I have. My second partition is an Apple CoreStorage volume.

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

    Disk: /dev/disk0 geometry: 31130/255/63 [500118192 sectors]

    Signature: 0xAA55

             Starting       Ending

#: id  cyl  hd sec -  cyl  hd sec [     start -       size]

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1: EE 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [         1 -     409639] <Unknown ID>

    2: AC 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [    409640 -  250392096] <Unknown ID>

    3: AB 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [ 250801736 -    1269536] Darwin Boot

    *4: 07 1023 254  63 - 1023 254  63 [ 252071936 -  248045568] HPFS/QNX/AUX

Glad to see it working again. Please take backups of OS X and Windows.
