Q: itunes home sharing stops working suddenly

I just bought a new macbook pro and am trying to transfer my music over to it from my older macbook pro. It was working extremely well (I had made it to the J's) and then out of nowhere it stopped entirely. Both computers are on the same wifi, the iTunes is up to date on both computers (iTunes12.1), they are logged into the same apple id account. As far as I can see nothing changed to make it stop working, but it stopped uploading so I closed it and tried to reconnect the libraries. I can select the other library, but it just says loading with the spinning wheel for minutes, and then gives up. I have tried restarting itunes on both, and restarted both computers as well, still nothing.
