Q: Can Not Download 3 Purchased Movies!

There are 3 purchased movies not in my library that I'm trying to download to my Windows XP machine to back them up. iTunes gives me a message stating that my computer can not play HD movies and gives me 3 options...Cancel, Buy the SD version, or Learn More. I've downloaded HD movies in the past no problem. I did update iTunes to the latest version. I'm not sure if this is some technical glitch or a new restriction in iTunes. Anyone come across this and have a solution?

If it is a limitation in iTunes update it seems silly. I already know the computer isn't fast enough to play the HD movies. I'm just trying to back them up. This is where I keep my master iTunes library with all my soft copies of purchases. I also use it to stream to Apple TV.

    Greetings WDI,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are getting an alert in iTunes that your computer cannot play HD movies. The first article below explains the requirements for downloading and playing HD movies from iTunes.

As you have already stated though, you are aware your computer doesn’t meet the requirements to play HD movies and you would simply like to back them up. Any purchases that you make in iTunes with your Apple ID are always available for re-download with no charge, providing that content is still available in the iTunes Store.

    Cheers,

    Joe

This is the message I get when trying to download the movies...

There is no option to download. I've never run into a problem with backing up my HD movies on this computer in the past. It's either a glitch with these three movies or an updated requirement in iTunes which doesn't make sense. I could understand the warning about not being able to play if I was attempting to buy them from this computer. But I should not be stopped from downloading them if they are already purchased.
