Feb 12, 2015 2:09 PM in response to WhoFanKCby SergZak,I believe that yes, the iOS 8.x update is more touchy/sensitive to what charger you use, especially on higher current devices like the iPad. I would assume that this behavior is to more strictly regulate what chargers work/don't work and to more adequately & safely and charge the iPad. I really doubt it was meant to "eliminate any 3rd party chargers". 3rd party chargers may not provide enough current to adequately charge the device, especially those of low amperage and/or those meant to charge the iPhone/iPod.
Check your 3rd party chargers and make sure they provide 10 amps or more of output current. Those that do not are more likely to not charge correctly and display the "not charging" message.

Feb 12, 2015 2:11 PM in response to WhoFanKCby Procyon256,SSome say it's for your own safety. Apple has a proprietary chip in it's approved chargers. Pay for the chip to put in the cable or they won't work.

ITs my understanding there was an update that would prevent charging without this chip. I have heard the move was in response to cheap charging cables catching fire.
