Feb 14, 2015 9:01 AM in response to Wildflandersby MichelPM,No.
The 2010, 21 inch screen models can only take up to and is limited to (4) 4 GB RAM modules for a total of 16 Gbs of RAM.
This is because Macs and OS X perform better with matched pairs of RAM.
Correct, compatible and reliable Mac RAM can ONLY be purchased from online RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (http://www.macsales.com).
Good Luck!

Feb 14, 2015 9:04 AM in response to Wildflandersby den.thed,It is not necessary, but better to add or install new modules in pairs.
Check out > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac
I would get either a 2x4 8GB kit or a 2x8 16 GB kit from OWC and install them into the empty slots.

Feb 14, 2015 10:10 AM in response to Wildflandersby Old Toad,I suggest you go with either the 2 x 4 GB kit from Crucial.com
for a total of 12 GB of memory or 2 of those kits for 16GB. Unless you're doing some very heavy computing, movie editing, very large image editing, etc. the difference between 12 and 16 GB won't be that significant. The crucial price for the 2 x 4 is about $20 less than OWC's.
The 8 GB module offered buy OWC is $25 more than the 2x4 GB kit from Crucial and, as noted above, it's best if installed in matched pairs.
For the record I don't have a vested interested in either supplier. I get my memory from Crucial and other hardware from OWC.
