If the above doesn't help, what kind of printer is it? Is it supported? Are there updated drivers?

If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

I have tried tried this but now I cannot get the printer back. Canon says to look for it in Yosemite????

To be clearer, I tried removing the printer and then replacing it and thr printer is not now available, through Canon or Yosemite.
