Feb 14, 2015 5:42 PM in response to parthbhatiaby turingtest2,You've possibly tried all of this, but just in case there is something that you've missed that I've noted down somewhere...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
- iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
- iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
- iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

Feb 15, 2015 2:59 AM in response to turingtest2by CamGia,Hi there - thanks for your posts on this subject - I have tried all of the suggestions but I too had the latest itunes v12 upgrade crash and have tried several uninstall / reinstall but keep getting the error re the AMDS not be able to start (1053 error). I have removed the apps in the order advised and removed the left over directories. Should I just go back to v11 64 bit that worked (find it on the web somewhere ?). I did notice the the path to executable in the AMDS service shows it is pointing to the Program Files directory not the Program file x86 directory - why is this ? greatly appreciate your time.

Feb 15, 2015 3:42 AM in response to CamGiaby turingtest2,Hi.
On 64-bit machines 64-bit components go into Program Files and 32-bit components go into Programs Files (x86).
Take a look at HT203188: How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows in case that helps with your issue. There are links in the user tip to Apple's selection of older builds or OldApp.com. Did you have iTunes 12.0 working before updating to 12.1? If so then ir really ought to be possible to install either the 12.1 for older video cards version or 12.0 again.
