Q: Older songs in iTunes won't play

When I try to play some older songs, iTunes says my computer is not authorized. So I enter my password and am told that the computer is already authorized. But the song still won't play (or synch with my iPod or burn to disc). File info for the song indicates it was purchased through my existing account. iTunes store knows that I have purchased it: I tried to repurchase it but the button says "Play" not "1.29". The song was purchased from a different Mac and using a different iTunes password.

I read an article advising me to log on as administrator (not an issue) and to trash something called the SC Data folder. No joy.

Sent an email to Apple support, got an official case number and a list of recommended reading.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Dear rpkyle431

I just wanted to let you know that I did a live chat with Apple on this same issue. My problem was that I purchased the music in the US over three years ago and am now trying to play it on my computer in the UK. In order to do that I would have to have a valid US billing address (which I no longer have) to sign into iTunes US and re-download my old music. Just sharing this info with you in case your situation is similar.
