Feb 5, 2015 9:49 AM in response to sunnyinlondonby celmont,I have the exact same problem and I keep hoping that software updates would fix it. I don't use a SIM card in my iPad... never did. I bought the SIM-capable iPad and mini-iPad in case i ever change my mind and eventually get a SIM but I have been perfectly happy with wifi. That is until version 8 came out and this most annoying popup reminder that no SIM card is installed --->> I KNOW ALREADY!
This has become so annoying and it pops in the middle of application interrupting productivity. If this is some kind of incentive-driven punishment to force consumers to buy SIM and purchase unneeded service plans with phone carriers, I will soon abandon Apple for other platforms. I really don't need this aggravation.

Feb 5, 2015 10:11 AM in response to area51nzby celmont,Asking Siri to "Turn off Cellular Data" effectively works in moving the Cellular Data to OFF position (you can't do it manually as the option is grey-ed out if you don't have a SIM card). However, even after Siri disables the cellular Data (in Settings) I still get the pop-up "No SIM card installed" error...
Why hasn't Apple fixed this already?? This wasn't a problem prior to version 8 of IOS.

Feb 6, 2015 5:21 PM in response to sunnyinlondonby bbobfrombozone,I have an ipad 2 32gb. I bought it used and it would not activate after the latest update with the sim card that was in there, so I removed it and got the dang pop up every minute or so. I then removed the sim card and did a factory reset. No Sim only popped up once during setup, and hasn't since then.

Feb 8, 2015 7:34 AM in response to fayeavby Nisrock, given the amount of time that I have had to suffer with this annoying bug I feel Apple owes us. This bug has been a round. Since The late iOS 7 and personally I cannot believe that it has gone untouched for all these months.

Feb 8, 2015 10:16 AM in response to sunnyinlondonby Nisrock,I have tried to solve this problem today and it appears that I have or at least in my case.
I went to Settings > General > Restriction >Don't Allow Changes checked. Problem solved in my case
Problem number two is that I am going to bet everyone that goes in to restrictions find themselves locked out. Their passcode will not work for them. Which is another bug that Apple has been very very silent about. it is a problem which i had to correct using Ibackupbot and step by step instructions on the net. ReallyApple get your act together it is pathetic i spent my entire Sat morning correcting two problem that you should be addressing when they happen not 5 updates, 6 months and 13 pages of message board complaint later.

Feb 8, 2015 11:42 AM in response to HEWRby wilkie.joissaint,I had this issue long time ago, so I decided to go to AT&T to get my sim card replaced (they shouldn't charge at all). Once swapped out and I was squared ahead. I hope this helps. So visit your cell phone provider for sim card replacement @sunnyinlondon

Feb 8, 2015 6:34 PM in response to sunnyinlondonby Nisrock,This worked is his worked for me but not sure it is effective.
1. Turn on airplane mode
2. With airplane mode on turn on wifi.
both wifi and airplane mode should now be on. airplane mode will prevent apps from doing SIM card checks while you are able to use wifi. Apple devs need to do brain checks.

Feb 9, 2015 12:02 AM in response to Nisrockby slow_but_low,Airplay mode + Wifi definitely not works for me! It keeps popping up.
Also your advice "Settings > General > Restriction >Don't Allow Changes checked" is not working for me.
And even setting off Mobile Data through Siri doesn't change anything.
It's so awkward for Apple

Feb 9, 2015 3:21 AM in response to sunnyinlondonby josemiguel.lara,Hi,
I have an iPad Retina 64Gb and I have the same trouble. The SIM card is not properly recognised the icon about the level of signal for the 4G connection some time says to you is connected properly to the 4G provider but some seconds after the iPad is searching for a data provider.
I decided to work without the SIM card the system is always requisting for installation.
When the iPad is switch off for some minutes and you switch on for working you are requested for activating it. The same as if you install it as new.
I also reset it a lot of times and I have the same situation.
I am currently working with versión 8.1.2 but it is happening since the versión 8 has appeared in the market.
I have replaced the SIM card and it is the same trouble.
Apple support says me it is a trouble wiht the SIM assembly and they request me 300 € for replacing the device completely.
I see the same trouble in a lot of user at the web and I wonder if it is a trouble with this software release and also how is it possible to damage the SIM assembly in an iPad? what do you have to do for damage it? I cannot find the proper explanation.
I would like to know your feedback about this situation.
Thanks in advance for your support.

I am on an iPad 2 so I'm not sure it is going to work on all but i have not seen that annoying message for a week now. The trick is to get wifi working with airplane mode on. All i really did was truned on airplane mode then turned on wifi. If that did not work for you try a reboot
