Q: I used my MacBook Pro to change my Apple ID and now I can't sign into my ID on my iPad or iPhone. Why is this happening?

I recently used my MacBook Pro (mid 2012 model) to change my Apple ID and password. Now I can't sign into Apple ID on my iPad (gen 4, 16 gig) or my iPhone 6 (64 gig).

The only option I get with the iPad or iPhone is to reset the password and I still can't sign in after doing that.

Please help. Not sure what to do next.

Where is it that you are trying to sign on your updated Apple ID on the devices? iCloud? iTunes & App Store?

    Cheers,

    Good question.

I was under the impression that a single Apple ID would sign me into any of those accounts. I can sign into iCloud, iTunes and Apps with that the same ID on my MacBook but since I changed the ID I can't sign to anything on my iPad or iPhone.

I was also under the impression that changing the ID on one device would change on all devices.

You have to manually sign out with your other Apple devices and sign back in with the new Apple ID password.

This is a security feature: Imagine if someone has your Apple ID and password and you change your password for protection, it automatically updates theirs then what's the point of changing your password?

Note also all content bought using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

I don't actually know how to "manually" sign out?

As it is now, I am asked for my password for the old ID every time I try to access Apps or iTunes.

Read the last sentence from my previous post.

I hear what you're saying but I'm not sure how that will effect apps. I can see that my music downloads are not showing but my Apps seem to be in place.

I tried to sign in with the old ID but the last password didn't work. I requested a reset but the email with the reset link never arrived. What must I do in a case like that.

PS - I figured out how to sign out manually and I can now connect to the new ID on all my devices. I just need to get the old ID working again.
