Q: Slow WiFi issues after 10.10.2

I seem to have much much slower WiFi connectivity after the 10.10.2 update on my 2014 MBP 2.8?

It was a bit unreliable before, as it used to drop out quite often, but I was getting 35-40 Mbps average on WiFi,even though I use it in CLAMSHELL mode mostly.(Whilst using Ethernet via Thunderbolt I'd get 95 Mbps to give you some idea of what is possible)

But NOW it's almost unusable, it just lags as if it's connected to a 1 Mbps service...

In fact I've just tested it and it's worse that that!

How on earth have Apple made this happen?

Anyone else have the same issues?

Cheers

I tired your solutions but it did not worked for me , on the other hand it made it worse . which means this message "no hardware installed". However the following solution worked prefect for me hope it works for you guys too.

Sorry to hear you had issues - it was actually Lysin's solution - not mine - I didn't use the posted extension.

I used Time Machine to 'go back' and grab my pre 10.10.2 extension and so I made it work - however it is not a solution, just a quick fix.

I know Apple are still working on it, so hopefully there will be a solution soon.

All the best with your paper!

    Hi guys,

I had no problem with 10.10.1 but, I installed 10.10.2 two weeks ago, and my wifi is dropping every ten minutes. I know is my iMac, because the iPhone and the others laptops at home are ok.

I tried the solution with the file IO80211Family.kext., but it's not worked. I hope that Apple fix this problem as soon as posible.

    Sorry to hear that.

Do make sure you report it to Apple!

    I have a working solution:

create a new admin user, log in as them and then load webpages.

log out and log in as you original account

    and you should be fine

After weeks i figured a workaround without driver changes. I changed in bluetooth settings the three options to "uncheck" where it asks 1- allow bluetooth keyboard wake up pc, 2- allow bluetooth device wake up pc and 3- .......similar.

After that it also started to work connecting to my iPhone and use its cellular internet thing. Wasn't working either.

(now for 2 days) hope it stays like that. Of course all this issue because of the bluetooth mouse. If a wired mouse no problem exists.

    Hi Lysin,

I tried your IO80211Family with no luck as my Macbook Pro is older (Retina mid 2012) to solve the problem. As I'm traveling I don't have access to my time machine... And as I'm traveling I need the WiFi to work. I'm new to the forum and wonder how do I report this problem to Apple?

I can't find any place to to contact Apple to report the WiFi issue with out having to pay for support, which is a bit rude considering the fault is from their own up date.

    Cheers

As an update, the problems I was experiencing have gone since I changed to a new Airport Extreme base station. I was previously using a prior gen Airport Extreme and now I have a dual band setup, my Mac connects seamlessly to the new 5GHz network I’ve created. The older devices in the house run on the regular wireless band.

Thanks to everyone here I've replaced the driver and my WiFi is now working again (brand new 15" MBPr mid-2014) in 10.10.2

    However....

iMessages and FaceTime are now unusable! Every time I try to login to iMessages I get the message "An error occurred during activation. Try again." When i try and log in to FaceTime I keep getting asked to authorise a change to my keychain - even though I say allow it doesn't allow me to login

As anyone else experienced this since replacing their driver??? I'm completely stuck as to how to fix this and its really annoying having this functionality suddenly missing.....

Using an old driver was only a temporary fix. OS X 10.10.3 is just around the corner and the WiFi should be more stable.

Are you using your old driver (from 10.10.1) or the one downloaded from here? Maybe that's the problem...

    Best regards
