Q: My Music Disappeared.

Hello,

I was adding music to my iPod and after a few albums the music stopped syncing and would not go on the iPod. Though, I guess the music was pending because it appeared on the iTunes page with dotted grey circles. After waiting a long time, the music still would not sync. I then updated to the latest version (assuming that would fix the problem). After that was done, I went to see if the music was added and after it loaded the music screen all my music showed, then disappeared right off the screen. While connected to iTunes, it says I have music on my iPod, but the music won't play from the iTunes menu and when clicked an exclamation mark appears. When I go to my Summary page, it say's there is no music on the iPod.

Any information to retrieve my music would be appreciated. I also did try a reboot by holding down both buttons.

Thank you,

iPod touch, Windows 7

    If this

" but the music won't play from the iTunes menu and when clicked an exclamation mark appears."

means that the music will not play in iTunes on the computer then iTunes can't find the actual music files.

Try to find the files by:

iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads

If you can't find them then delete the "songs" from iTunes and then:

    - You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    - Re-import the songs into your iTunes library from CDs or other source

    Then

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Unsync/delete all music and resync

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

    - Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    - Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I have the same problem with my 4th gen iPod touch. every time I try to sync even a single song on it, all my music disappears but it still appears on iTunes.

After a reset it still happens.

I think it is connected to the last iTunes update (i'm running iTunes 10.1.0.50 on a MacBook with Yosemite).

I've read that many other users have the same problem with different ipod models and computer operating systems.

    * wrong iTunes version: I wrote 10.1.0.50, but actually the faulty update is 12.1.0.50, the last one released
