Q: MacBook 2,1 Core 2 Duo (2006) Will Not Charge Nor Recognize The Batter

I currently have a MacBook 2,1 Core 2 Duo from 2006. I have an issue with the battery not being recognized, not charging, and it being at "0%". I have tried doing an SMC Reset twice. It did not help with this battery issue. From what I understand, quite a bit of people are having this issue but I haven't seen one that was not solved by an SMC.

    Hi wadesie,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communites.

I found two articles that should be of use for you to sort out why your computer is not recognizing the battery. The first is general battery troubeshooting.

Mac notebooks: All about batteries - Apple Support

Regarding not recognizing the battery it says:

    My battery is not recognized

If the battery in your MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro is fully drained of power, the battery will put itself into a low power state to preserve its ability to charge in the future. Connect your Mac Notebook to AC power and allow it to charge for at least five minutes. If the connect to power screen persists after charging for five minutes, reset the SMC.

The next article provides instruction on resetting the SMC.

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support

    Regards,
    Jeff D.
