Q: Ipod nano won't hold a charge

I have a 7th generation IPod Nano, I have had it for about a year. The other day it got really hot while it was charging in my car and the audio was starting to skip and the iPod would pause on its own. Now I will charge it to full power and then turn it off. I will wake up in the morning and it will not turn on and I have to plug it in to the charger to have it turn on again. Once this happens I will unplug it but It will show a low battery and need to charge again.
