What exactly are you wanting to accomplish by pairing them?

Mac OS XThis explains it: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with another iOS device or with my computer?
I realize it refers specifically to computers, but the same thing applies to iPhones and iPads (which ARE computers when you come right down to it).
