Q: MacBook pro can't start up, keyboard not responding. Help!
HI guys,
My MacBook would not startup after a forced shutdown in win7. When I started the machine as usual, hold down option key then choose win drive, it entered into a black screen and sticker there. I then shutdown the machine by holding the power button for several seconds. I thought is better get it started in OS and perform check the disk to see if there were any damage. I then started it without touching any key. It entered to the apple logo with a progress bar. The bar was progressing slowly. After 20min I realized that it stacked at aprox. 50%. I then shut it down and tried to enter disk utility. However, the hot keys not working! I tried all hot keys including hold option for start up disk choice. No matter what keys I hold, the machine enters into the white logo and progress bar screen. The keyboard is not responding.
I Then tried to use a usb external keyboard. it worked the first time when I hold the option key. I chose to stars up with the recovering disk and went away from my desk. When I return to it, the machine is on the white logo and progress bar screen again! Agin, I shut it down and restarted but the external keyboard wpuld not work!
Help please. What can I do to fix this problem?
Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Hi If you are doing the SMC reset as with battery not removable. Then when holding down the keys and power button. Do it for 10 seconds ,then just before you let go of the power button change to command R. Try it and see what happens. Also,do you have another mac and do both have firewire? if so and you have a firewire cable. You could start your MBP in target disk mode T key at startup. With your other mac on you can use the disk utilities to check and repair.
