Feb 21, 2015 11:56 AM in response to vazandrewby n6021n,Speedtest shows a 29ms ping and 22.68 mb download. Tried with both Ethernet and 5ghz wireless with AirPort Extreme. good wifi signal (rssi 48 noise 96 where the box is). Suspiciously iTunes download of a purchased TV show to ipad also extremely slow. Trace route to Apple.com has all kinds of timeouts but not sure that has anything to do with where iTunes downloads come from. What's annoying isn't that there is a problem, stuff happens, but that there's no good way to find out whats going on and when and where it can be resolved. Amazon instant video is working great so I'm pretty sure my network is solid.

Feb 21, 2015 1:35 PM in response to Parpindogby jbc1010,I have the same problem. It is interesting that movie trailers for new releases play immediately, but any past purchase will stay in the "Loading" or "Loading, ready in 1 minute" state and never progress beyond that point.
My connection speed is 18mb, speedtest indicates 14mb. I do not have any internet performance related problems with any other connected device.

Feb 21, 2015 1:57 PM in response to n6021nby vazandrew,Have you tried switching to 2.4ghz? Switching channels on router? Tested on another network?
Amazon also uses adaptive streaming
Unfortunately troubleshooting the network isn't always easy, if you want to verify you can test on another (ideally controlled) network as suggested

Feb 21, 2015 1:45 PM in response to jbc1010by vazandrew,Big difference between playing a trailer and a full length movie. Speed is one factor, did you check the other things? Again, other devices working is not necessarily indicative of a solid network.

Feb 21, 2015 1:48 PM in response to Christer Hiort1by vazandrew,How long have you had the router? I would suggest changing channels on the router. Also make sure it is up to date. Have you tried Ethernet?

Feb 21, 2015 2:10 PM in response to vazandrewby jbc1010,It's Apple's network. The network performance test on AppleTV completed successfully. Can you try troubleshooting the problem, instead of blaming network performance. Nothing has changed with my home configuration, and I have no other problems except with Apple TV.

Feb 21, 2015 3:01 PM in response to jbc1010by vazandrew,The network test on the device doesn't account for any issues, for that you need a full network report. Network problems can come at any time without changes done by the user . I am in fact trying to troubleshoot the issue, but it will be down to to the network.
It is working just fine on my system and for the majority, take it to another network and you'd see similar results. If you'd rather make assumptions and place blame elsewhere that's up to you.

Feb 21, 2015 3:40 PM in response to vazandrewby Davis2718,The AppleTV network test reported successful. Also just bought a new AppleTV today, same issue (yeah, call me stupid there) as with the old one. Wired connection, and every App inside AppleTV works fine except trying to stream/play non-new movies from my Apple collection. If everything works but that, then that is where the problem is. I am not a computer hardware or network person. No idea how to troubleshoot a network.

Feb 21, 2015 3:43 PM in response to vazandrewby Davis2718,How do you "take it to another network"???
-
Feb 21, 2015 4:00 PM in response to Davis2718by vazandrew,As I stated above the network test on the device does not account for issues on the network, you need a full network report (istumbler, netstumbler or similar..which was stated in previous response). Again, those other services are adapting to the connection and iTunes is at a fixed rate plus higher quality (in addition it needs to load a portion before playback begins).

You simply take it to another location, under a controlled network like Apple's.

Feb 21, 2015 7:53 PM in response to vazandrewby Stf11,Same problem.
yesterday when tried to play apple tv it says ready to play in 82 hours in HD and 7 hours in SD
Today, i am trying to download it on mac, and itunes says that it will be completed in 302 hours
Nba15k for my son's ipad air - still downloading since this morning.
i Am on uverse with speedtest constantly shown 18mbps download,
nothing was added or changed on my home network, netflix, amazon, hbogo, showtimeanywhere, etc all works fine.
uverse router shown uptime 40 days with no error packets
router restart, disabling firewall, resetting and restoring appletv did not help.
apple support suggested to bring appletv to apple store but that was before i discovered that mac and ipads have same issue.
last time it worked perfectly around feb 4, and app updates worked fine until yesterday afternoon.
ps
i tried it on wired and wireless - no difference

Feb 21, 2015 8:13 PM in response to vazandrewby Stf11,And my mac mini and all ipads that have same issue all of a sudden?
i Can accept the fact that it may be an issue between att and itunes content provider, but i do not see how apple store will help me on that. Especialy when apple tv continiously passing 10mbps and above network tests.
I Will call uverse support on monday to make them aware of the issue.

Feb 21, 2015 8:21 PM in response to Stf11by vazandrew,I agree, I was only suggesting that to verify if it persisted on their network. That ISP is notorious for throttling traffic.

DId you really mean to say that? Care to elaborate a little without losing us all in technospeak?
