There may be local Computer course you can join where you are located, or, you can be self-taught. This may get you started down the latter path - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/support#1TC=other.
- Using an external WD hard drive as the one I have I can't save anything to the one I have
If there are specific issues with this WD drive, please provide more details, and the community will be glad to assist about specific questions and usage, which is Apple-specific, or point you to WD webpages.

It's a confidence thing really in that I don't feel confident enough to follow the online instructions and guidance in case it goes wrong. I just wanted to someone in the 'know' to perhaps do it for me or at least be there to watch me do it. I know its silly but Mac is new to me and I feel out of my depth!
