Q: missing smtp outgoing mail servers

Hi,

Something very strange happened today...in the morning I used Mail.app like normal and in the afternoon I could no longer send any emails because all of my outgoing servers were missing.  I had maybe 10 of them?  I don't recall anything happening that could cause this and certainly I didn't go through manually and delete them all one by one or anything like that.  So what I did is I restored from a SuperDuper! clone that was from the previous night and even after restore they are still missing!  One more oddity, I also received a message from Mail telling me my Outbox had been renamed to Delivered because it already exists or something to that effect, I'm not able to reproduce it at this time...

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance,

rc

I had the same issue this morning. I have booted my mac, started Mail and wanted to send an e-mail... but all SMTP-Servers were gone and I had to manually add them again. Very annoying!

Hi, I had the exactly same issue. I have 9 mail accounts with Mail (OS X Yosemite) and all of a sudden the outgoing mail serves disappeared - except for the iCloud account.

The problem is that I could not add them manually, I get authentication errors or messages like "the recipient was rejected by the server".

    It is getting really frustrating.

Any ideas or hints to resolve this? Thanks.

All my outgoing servers disappeared today

I haven't installed any updates or anything. So god knows why they've gone.

    Very frustrating.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I Will file a developer bug report.

Out out of interest, have any of you installed an MSOffice update lately? This was the only recent change I can think of.

I have this too. I restarted my Macbook this morning after a normal day yesterday, and this morning all my SMTP servers are gone. I installed Pushbullet yesterday, but that was the only significant change – and I was emailing after the installation with no problems.

How does one go about filing a report to Apple?

Yep, I am having the same problem. Trying to remain calm and not rage but this is ridiculous. I'm coming to the conclusion that Mac is just not suitable for the office environment. 48 hours with no outgoing mail?!!!!

I've been on the phone with Apple Support for 5 hours today and they are calling back tomorrow to continue the saga. Their last suggestion is reloading OS X - joy! None of the other fixes posted any where on the web have worked so far, all the settings appear correct but the outgoing mail server (little ******) won't go online! For either of our two domains and only intermittently for gmail. Most frustratingly it is only on two client machines on our network (both on 10.9.5, the others are on 10.9.3) but we can't find any other difference!

    Will keep you posted.

So this morning, I found that the OSX download had failed for the fifth time however my mail seems to be working. I'm not celebrating yet as I had a brief moment at the same time early yesterday morning when it was working but I am going to take advantage and get some **** work done while I can!

I had the same issue today. All six SMTP servers are missing.

It doesn't appear that anyone has found the cause or the solution. I guess I'll keep digging around for answers.

Okay. Everything has been working fine today. I don't know why. I did change channels on my router but I really don't think that is why. I shut down my computer at 3pm yesterday and restarted it at about 11.30am this morning so maybe it just needed to have a long rest. Who knows?
