Feb 4, 2015 12:18 AM in response to dtrhodesby turingtest2,For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
If you still have no luck try reinstalling iTunes 12.0, links in the user tip.

Feb 5, 2015 6:23 AM in response to cloudconnectedby rickbrasil,For those who updated iTunes and displaying the error "Windows error 193 or similar," a way to still use the iTunes download the 11.1.3.8 version of iTunes and install. Before installing something must be done:
* Step 1 - Uninstall the following programs:
1) Apple Software Update
2) Bonjour
3) iTunes.
Step 2 - Install version iTunes 11.1.3.8
If it shows the error "iTunes Library.itl" the solution is simple. Only delete the file in the C: \ Users \ Name \ Music \ iTunes called iTunes Library.itl.
Note: When you open the older version will ask if you want to update. Do not upgrade because it will give the same error in the update.
It is the hint. Could not say it is a solution, but a way to take advantage of the program for a while and wait for an Apple solution. Sincerely Ricardo.

Feb 26, 2015 1:19 AM in response to turingtest2by takanohana,I did all the steps mentioned above, but still have the same problem after installing Itunes again.
I still have Icloud and quick time 7 which I didn't remove.
Will it be safe removing them as well? thanks.

Feb 26, 2015 2:29 AM in response to takanohanaby turingtest2,Yes, removing the software won't affect your data. Best to remove all trace of Apple software before trying to reinstall. Note that QuickTime doesn't work with the iTunes6464setup.exe installers. If you have a 64-bit machine and need to use QuickTime then you must install the "for older video cards" version.

Feb 27, 2015 2:14 AM in response to tdix007by turingtest2,What was the last version of iTunes that worked for you?
Have you tried reverting to that one?
Have you tried the current "for older video cards" version?

Feb 27, 2015 6:48 AM in response to cloudconnectedby whippler,Uninstall everyting...everything and try his version of itunes:
iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
Windows 7 User here. Had this same issue over the past few days. After the latest iTunes update, and some Windows updates, I started to receive Windows Error 127. Did all the steps listed here, multiple times, with no success:
Just remember to look around for other Apple folders/programs under Common Files and under other users.
Then re-installed iTunes as admin. Didn't work, kept getting the unable to start Apple Mobile Device Service, but then started to get Windows Error 193.
So I uninstalled again, deleted everything I could find that was Apple. Disabled the AMDS under Services:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows - Apple Support
Didn't work, kept getting Error 193.
So try uninstalling everything Apple, even folders, disabling Apple Mobile Device Services, then try that older video card version. That finally worked for me, just a few minutes ago.
