Feb 28, 2015 9:26 AM in response to helena_macby Eric Root,The link works for me. If you are using Safari, go Safari/Preferences/Privacy and delete the apple cookie. You will need to sign back in. Try reloading the link to see if it works.

Feb 28, 2015 9:42 AM in response to Eric Rootby helena_mac,Thanks for your help but I'm still not able to download it.
The browser leads me to this URL but then, nothing happens.
https://support.apple.com/Mac_OS_X/031-03190.20140529.Pp3r4/JavaForOSX2014-001.d mg
This update to 10.10 was sooo unnecessary! I'm only loosing a bunch of time for nothing..

Feb 28, 2015 12:52 PM in response to Moca75by Kurt Lang,Linc's link is the correct one, but the download itself is being a yo-yo today. Sometimes it's up and you can download it, and two minutes later you can't. Just keep trying.

Apr 18, 2015 11:41 AM in response to Kurt Langby Omar Yousif,I'm having the same issue. I keep getting:
"Too many redirects occurred trying to open “https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572?locale=en_US”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page."
Is there another link somewhere?

Apr 18, 2015 2:03 PM in response to Omar Yousifby ricardonucci,I am having the exactly same problem right now, i have downloaded Java 8 but it still ask me to download the legacy SE 6 version.
Also tried to clear the apple website cookies, data and opened it in other browsers and computers but the link does not work either, keep getting the loop error.

Apr 18, 2015 2:20 PM in response to ricardonucciby FatMac>MacPro,There are other discussions involving the same type of problem with different Apple Support downloads so Kurt Lang's solution is the best one. The link will work eventually.

May 13, 2015 5:59 PM in response to Moca75by Elaine Morrison,I found this, which installs the legacy Java SE 6. I'd rather force AI to run on Java 8 but this fixes many broken apps with the same problem. Run in terminal:
sudo mkdir -p /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk
sudo mkdir -p /System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle

Part of the installation process run by the Java update in the link from Linc Davis involves uninstalling "the Apple-provided Java applet plug-in from all web browsers." Do you know if those Terminal commands do that too?

May 13, 2015 6:33 PM in response to FatMac>MacProby Elaine Morrison,I didn't uninstall. When I command:
java -version
after adding the legacy Java 6 I get version 8 showing in my terminal.
I think this is just a virtual machine used for legacy apps and is not necessarily your primary system otherwise.
(If I was installing Java 6 to replace Java 8 it probably would have refused to go backwards and would have required a complete uninstall and then installation of Java 6, but this is just an add-on, a fix if you will as far as I can see. AI is looking for its Java 6 and now the salient parts exist on the computer after they were wiped out by the upgrade.)
I optimally want to force AI to run on Java 8 by fixing its pathways, but that's a whole other issue I haven't found the solution for yet.

May 13, 2015 6:36 PM in response to Elaine Morrisonby FatMac>MacPro,Thanks.
I believe the "installation improvements" included in the 2014-001 update involved removal of the plugins from all web-browsers since a common attack vector involving Java is through the browser. The Java RE remains to keep Adobe happy.

May 13, 2015 7:52 PM in response to FatMac>MacProby Elaine Morrison,Someone corrected me and I came back to correct what I said. They said the command line fix is fooling AI into thinking it's running on Java 6 but it's really running on Java 8, which makes sense since that's what the computer says my version is. Also, those files have zero content, so they're just place-holders. I was wondering what was going on with those content-wise since we were just creating file names. Mystery upon mystery.
